JOINT MCPSI AND IMRO RINGTONE LICENCE AGREEMENT for the provision of Ringtone Services in the Republic of Ireland - A Summary
The MCPSI- IMRO Joint Ringtone Licence is a blanket scheme which covers the reproduction and supply of music as mobile ringtones (monophonic, polyphonic, truetone and realtone) for sale to the Irish public.
What are the rights covered under the schemes?
MCPSI:
• the right to copy MCPSI members' music in order to create a ringtone.
• the encoding of that file onto a server
• any copies created in transit to the consumer and/or the copy of the file delivered to and held by the consumer.
IMRO:
• delivering the ringtones to music users' mobile devices
• allowing music users to preview a ringtone before purchasing it
How do you apply for the scheme?
To apply for Joint Ringtone Licence you must complete a hard copy of the Application Form and return it to Online and Mobile Licensing, IMRO, Copyright House, Pembroke Row, Lower Baggot St, Dublin 2.

How much do you pay?
(i) Realtone - Greater of 12% Gross Revenue and €0.14 per realtone downloaded.
(ii) All ringtones other than realtones - Greater of 15% Gross Revenue and €0.21 per ringtone downloaded.
How does the reporting process work?
Under this scheme you are required provide a record of all music sold, as well as an Accounting Statement detailing revenue, to us on a quarterly basis.
What does the scheme exclude?
Mobile phones that can forward or copy ringtones. Visual material (only to be used in music related vid-tones or pic-tones). Moral rights. Contentious music. Music used in advertising or sponsorship. Adaptation or dramatico musical works (musicals, operas). Reproduction of lyrics and musical notation
