Coughlans Live Music Festival announce the final additions

September 4, 2014

RSAGRSAG, BOOKA BRASS BAND, ADRIAN CROWLEY, KATIE KIM, THE EDISONS, JOE O’ LEARY (FRED) AND MORE JOIN COUGHLAN’S LIVE MUSIC FESTIVAL 2014.

Coughlans Live Music Festival announced the final additions to the festival line-up this week with a stellar bill of acts descending on the rebel county later this month.

Straight from a phenomenal performance at Electric Picnic, the brilliant Booka Brass Band (all 8 of them!) make their Coughlan’s debut later this month. Since their first sold out Dublin show, where they collaborated with Jerry Fish and Lisa Hannigan, the band have been all over Ireland and beyond, with shows at Glastonbury, Body & Soul, Barn Dance, opening for Imelda May and a special invite by The President to play in Áras an Uachtaráin.

For a man with such personal understatement, Adrian Crowley is an artist of considerable ambition. The Dublin songwriter prepares to release his new record ‘Some Blue Morning’ this November, the follow-up to the Choice Music Prize nominated ‘I See Three Birds Flying’.

Kilkenny man Jeremy Hickey aka RSAG plays a rare intimate gig at this year’s festival. It’s been a jam packed year for the multi instrumentalist, having just made his 7th Electric Picnic appearance, collaborating with Grammy award winning artist Xavier de Rosnay of Justice and finding the time to release new material, while working on the eagerly awaited 3rd album. If that doesn’t make your head spin then check out his live set! The drums are louder, the beats are faster and the energy is at a dangerously new level.

With a third album due for release later this year, the stunning Katie Kim takes time out from recording her new record to join the festival bill. The Dublin based ambient folk / pop singer has released two studio albums: Twelve (2008) and Cover & Flood (2012), on Flaming June Records. The Waterford native has scored an original soundtrack for the 1928 surrealist Germain Dulac film, “La Coquille et Le Clergyman”, commissioned by The Cork French Film Festival. The original score will be released later this year as part of a multi media package. In recent years, she has also worked with artists such as Ed Harcourt, David Kitt, Halves and The Waterboys.

After a chance pairing on an Irish TV show, Fran King & Pete Fagan formed The Edisons. Both singer songwriters with diverse talents, an an impressive body of acclaimed individual material. During recording in late 2011, their debut record “Little Bohemia” came to life.

Cork based singer-songwriter, Clare Sands performs in a variety of genres, her own material being a mixture of blues & folk. Clare first picked up a fiddle at the age of four, learning tunes off her Father Seamus on a weekly basis. Along with playing Traditional Irish music from an early age, Clare also trained classically on the violin.
