Old Hannah Launch “Irish Boys” EP in Whelans Tonight
Old Hannah are a four-piece from Sligo, with a sound that may conjure images of the Appalachian mountains before Yeats’s Ben Bulben. They recently released their debut EP ‘Irish Boys’ which has already received frequent national airplay on RTE, local Irish radio and recently secured them a slot at the Other Voices Music trail in Derry.
Old Hannah are Anthony Mannion (dobro/guitar/vocals), Lucie Crichlow (guitar/vocals), Luke Mercer (guitar/vocals), and Leo Morris (banjo/guitar/vocals).
The band are firmly rooted in old time sounds, as an early passion for bluegrass, western swing and roots saw them mix traditional and contemporary influences into a truly unique set of original music. Three-part vocal harmonies are the core to their sound and are accompanied by masterful dobro, guitar and banjo picking.
Over the last two years Old Hannah have had two live performances on RTE radio 1 (Arena & Countrywide) along with various other radio play (John Creedon, Niall Toner, John Murray, Lee Gooch, Frank Galligan). They were also invited to perform on the RTE Big Music Week Train, the TwoTube Sessions and TG4’s Ceol ar an Imeall. They have made themselves known on the Irish festival and touring circuit, performing at the likes of Castlepalooza, Knockanstockan and Sligo Live and have shared the stage with Lisa Hannigan at the Turning Pirate show in Dublin. With this promising start the band is looking forward to an exciting year!
