On March 5, 2007, the Oh Yeah Music Centre opened its doors to the public for the first time.

There was live music throughout the former whiskey warehouse in Belfast’s Cathedral Quarter. There were discussion panels, industry stalls and unique events. A team of volunteers gave guided tours and outlined the exciting plans.

In the evening, the inaugural gig featured live music from Elbow, Gary Lightbody, Lisa Hannigan, James Walsh, Duke Special and MC James Nesbitt.

Five years on and the Oh Yeah team is keen to measure the progress since that early milestone. There will be new tours of the building, showing the Strummerville rehearsal rooms, the Belfast Music Exhibiton, the venue area, Start Together recording studios and the many other exciting enterprises that now work out of the site.

Expect live music in the afternoon, with an Acoustic Picnic special from Katie Richardson and Colly Strings, with film showings by Bandwidth Films of classic Oh Yeah events. There will be a Demo Drop, inspired by our ‘Scratch’ programme and allowing young bands to get their music reviewed by industry experts. Meantime, Fighting With Wire will be doing a live session in the studio. There will also be a barbeque in the car park and a live, Caravan Jam.

In the evening there will be a live gig, featuring our musical supporters, old and new. A series of them will be playing together in a collaborative party. These will include Bronagh Gallagher, Robyn G Shiels, VerseChorusVerse, Our Krypton Son, Conor Mason and special, wonderful guests.
