::: LIVE ::: Album Launch – Saturday October 30 – The Button Factory, Dublin

The Kells-based band release their second album "White Fox", the follow-up to their 2008 award winning debut long-player "Carry the Meek". A glimpse of what was to come appeared on the nation's airwaves back in May which raised the bar of expectations for the much anticipated new album; The single "The Naturist" announced to the fanbase that the band were pushing the boat out and not resting on their laurels! The track highlights the classic intertwining vocal wordplay from Niamh and Podge and driven by D'Arcy's anthemic guitar playing thus marking a soaring return from one of Ireland's most popular bands. The follow-up single (out 24/10), "Oh-Oh" continues to visit new territory with more complex arrangements and instrumentation taking the band's writing to new creative heights.

“We’ve definitely grown up since ‘Carry The Meek’,” maintains Niamh. “In terms of all of us getting involved in the song writing process and, I suppose, just maturing as people. Making the song structures more interesting is crucial for both the listener and the band, because it holds the attention for longer.” Podge recounts, "The first album was practically all electric guitar; the new album is more musically varied – and not for the sake of it, either. It’s just that we’re getting our heads around different instruments. It’s a natural evolvement, and more texture is no harm.”

Produced and mixed by Karl Odlum and recorded at Sun Studios, Temple Bar (Dublin) & May Lodge (Co. Meath). Mastered by the legendary Abbey Road Studio (London) engineer Peter Mew ( David Bowie, The Beatles, ELO, Bob Marley, etc)

Hard Working Class Heroes – 2010

HARD WORKING CLASS HEROES INDUSTRY PANELS 2010
Hosted by Jim Carroll, The Irish Times

HWCH Industry is run in partnership with Culture Ireland and with support from Music Managers Forum Ireland, The Arts Council and IMRO. The industry element at HWCH is about getting music folk from around the world to come and see what we have going on talent wise in Ireland. HWCH 2010 knows how the industry is forever changing and just like international blogs and tastemakers were on the invite list last year, this year they have invited a bunch of the next holy grail for artists: BOOKERS.

HWCH will run the speed sessions for artists in the Button Factory on the 8th and 9th October from 10.30am to 1pm where you can book in for speed sessions to meet the visiting industry.

“We know record labels are in a shocking state. We know that the live music sector is not all it’s cracked up to be for new acts. We know that everything is not in its right place and that everything you know is wrong. But no-one has taken the ball off the pitch and gone home with it. We’re still here. You’re still here. People are still having being creative and making music. People are still clamouring to hear music. People are still seeking out new music, new bands, new names, new sounds. All involved are still excited, engaged, curious, determined, ambitious, enthusiastic”.  Jim Carroll, The Irish Times.

Jim has concentrated everything we need to talk about in to four panels: Panelists will be announced on www.hwch.net.

FUNDING   Friday 8th October. Button Factory, 2pm
Instead of relying on label deals, canny acts and music-makers have to look elsewhere for the cash it takes to keep the show on the road. Our funding panel dig deep to see where the cash for tomorrow’s acts is going to come from and how you can get a slice of the action.

FANS   Friday 8th October Button Factory 3.30pm
Our panel look at the who, why, how, where and when of making fans and influencing people.

FAME    Saturday 9th October, Button Factory, 2pm
Our panelists may provide some of the answers as they chew the cud about how a band can go from zeros to heroes using old media, new media and assorted forms of media which have yet to be invented.

FUTUREGAZING
   Saturday 9th  October 3.30pm
In conjunction with the On The Record blog in The Irish Times, we’ve invited a number of interested parties to come along and talk about what they think the music business will look like in 2020. As simple and straightforward as that! Futuregazing on a Saturday afternoon. Bring your own crystal ball.

Hard Working Class Heroes are also supporting the De Paul trust, 1life suicide helpline and Oxjam over the course of the weekend through the artist conference & conscience area. The “Make Noise, Make Change” initiative will be launched here encouraging all artists to take advantage of their public profile’s to highlight important social issues such as Homelessness, Suicide and Poverty. Re-dress will be running image consultancy sessions on each day of the festival, offering ethical merchandising advice to bands.

ALL PANELS in the Button Factory ARE FREE AND OPEN TO ALL.

‘VERSUS’ nights at HWCH
State vs AU Club – Thursday 7th
Richter Collective vs Any Other City  – Thursday 7th
Today FM (Paul McLoone) vs 2FM (Jenny Huston) – Friday 8th
Irish Times OTR vs Nialler9 – Saturday 9th

The day by day breakdown for the festival will follow later this week.
The festival website (www.hwch.net) will provide constant updates on the festival as it unfolds in the lead up to October 7/8/9.

Guitarist Leo Moran added: "We know Peter is very proud of his Irish roots and his Irish relatives, but for a major star to take time out and to speak so highly of our work is a huge compliment".

Kay was joined by relatives from all corners of Ireland as they met up with the band after the Dublin gig. The Further Adventures of the Saw Doctors is available on Monday 27 September in the UK and is out now in Ireland. Their second single 'Well Byes' will be released on October 16th.
