Jake Gosling is a multi-platinum selling Music Producer/Songwriter/Remixer/Manager and Publisher best known for his work with artists such as Wiley, Paloma Faith and Ed Sheeran with whom he produced and co-wrote the 4 times platinum No. 1 album “+” along with the No. 3 hit and platinum selling “The A Team”. Gosling worked on the gold selling No. 2 album “Fall to Grace” for Paloma Faith. Gosling runs his own studio, Sticky Studios, in Surrey along with his publishing company, The Movement. Gosling has also produced official remixes for Keane, Lady Gaga, Timbaland, Nelly Furtado, Keri Hilson and The Far East Movement amongst others under the pseudonym Sketch Iz Dead. Gosling runs Sticky Management alongside Adam Coltman, a management company which has the artist at the centre of its ethos.

Gosling achieved mainstream success with UK rapper Wiley, producing his 2008 album “See Clear Now” featuring tracks “Summertime” and “Cash In My Pocket” which he worked on with Mark Ronson. This peaked at No. 18 in the UK and grabbed much acclaim for both the careers of Wiley and Gosling. This brought him a lot of respect for his production skills and helped kickstart his career. He then worked with Southern Fry Records and produced/co-produced/co-wrote some tracks on the album “Tons of Friends”. He also performed vocals alongside Pitbull and Kardinal Offishall on tracks “Natural Born Hustler” and “Put Your Hands on Me”.

Gosling’s association with Ed Sheeran started early in both of their careers and they formed a formidable writing partnership which started with the “Loose Change” EP followed by ‘Songs I Wrote With Amy’ and then “No. 5 Collaborations Project” which is thought to be the breakthrough EP in Sheeran’s career which resulted in his record deal with Asylum/Atlantic Records. Gosling was influential in both its birth and creation producing all of the tracks which featured rappers Wiley, Devlin, Sway DaSafo, Mikill Pane, JME, Ghetts, P Money, Dot Rotten and Wretch 32.

The major breakthrough which brought Gosling huge mainstream success was the debut album “+” by Ed Sheeran. Gosling co-wrote seven tracks on the album, producing the whole of the album, with one track produced by No I.D. It debuted at the top of the album charts with first week sales of 102,000 copies coming off the back of the singles “The A Team” and “You Need Me, I Don’t Need You”. The former peaked at No. 3 in the UK Singles chart with the latter also achieving success with a peak position of No. 4. “Lego House” was also a hit for both Gosling and Ed Sheeran with the writing pair achieving commercial success achieving platinum status in the UK selling over 600,000 singles and reaching No. 5 in the UK Singles Chart.

By the end of 2011, the album had been certified 3x platinum indicating sales of over 900,000 copies. By July 2012 the album had been certified 4x platinum indicating sales of over 1,200,000 records sold in the UK. The album also received acclaim globally with it peaking No. 3 in the Australian Albums Chart, No. 2 in New Zealand and No. 5 in the US Billboard 200 which saw Sheeran being the highest charting male solo artist for 6 years. This success has been credited to both the talents of Ed Sheeran and the partnership he has struck up with Gosling which has enhanced the profile of both individuals.

In May 2012, Gosling achieved success with female solo artist Paloma Faith and her gold selling album “Fall to Grace” which reached No. 2 in the UK Albums Chart. Gosling collaborated with long time friend and work colleague Nellee Hooper who is of Massive Attack fame and also produced world-wide stars such as U2 and Madonna.

The album’s lead single was “Picking Up The Pieces” which peaked at No. 7 in the UK Singles Chart and was co-produced by Gosling with the follow up single “30 Minute Love Affair” also having Gosling’s co-production credits. The album has become Faith’s highest chart position to date adding another top 3 album to Gosling’s collection following “+” album earlier in the year.
Gosling has many current projects that he is working on with one finished product with Ed Sheeran and Shady Records artist Yelawolf with the collaboration resulting in “The Slumdon Bridge EP”. This has been highly acclaimed both sides of the Atlantic with it being one of the catalysts for Sheeran’s success in the USA.

Gosling is continuing to work with new up and coming artists including Scottish singer-songwriter Nina Nesbitt who has recently signed to Universal Music Group. He produced ‘The Apple Tree EP’ and co-wrote the lead single “The Apple Tree” receiving support from the likes of Radio 1 and reached No. 6 on the iTunes download chart before getting signed. Gosling is also recording her debut album which will be released under Universal Music Group.

Gosling is also managing UK artist Mikill Pane alongside Adam Coltman and is also producing/co-writing his up and coming debut album “Blame Miss Barclay”. Jake also worked with Irish group and IMRO members, The Original Rudeboys after seeing them perform at the BBC Introducing stage at Reading Festival 2012 and teamed up with them to produce and co-write their album “This Life” which reached No. 1 in the Independent Irish Album Chart.

Gosling has received credits on other albums, such as One Direction’s multi-platinum selling “Up All Night” with the track “Moments” that Jake produced and was written by Ed Sheeran. This has led to a strong working relationship and work on their next album is lined up. Other artists that Gosling has been involved with include the Australian rapper 360, James Jay Picton and French band Singtank.

Glen Hansard Announces Dec Shows

Having just headlined the Crawdaddy Stage at Electric Picnic last night, Glen Hansard is pleased to announce 2 Irish dates for December – Sunday 16th at Ulster Hall, Belfast and Tuesday 18th at Vicar St, Dublin.    And just like his picnic performance, Glen will be accompanied on stage by Frames’ band members Joe, Graham, Colm, Rob & Justin as well as a brass section and string quartet! This 12-piece band will be playing songs from Glen’s current album Rhythm and Repose, along, of course, with some Frames’ favourites.

Since the release of his first solo album, Rhythm and Repose in June, Glen has been busy touring in both the US and Europe. Around the time of release, Once the musical, picked up 8 Tony Awards for the Broadway production in New York.

Best known for his work with The Frames, The Swell Season and in the feature film Once, for which he won an Academy Award, Rhythm and Repose is Hansard’s first album of new material since his 2009 release Strict Joy with The Swell Season.

Rhythm and Repose is a result of Hansard’s last year and a half of living in New York City. The album was recorded by Patrick Dillett (David Byrne, Arto Lindsay, Laurie Anderson) and produced by Thomas Bartlett (Doveman, The National, Antony and the Johnsons). The record features the musical talents of Brad Albetta (Martha Wainwright) on bass, Ray Rizzo on drums, Nico Muhly and Rob Moose on strings (Bon Iver, Y Music), David Mansfield on slide guitar (Dylan’s Rolling Thunder Tour), Javier Mas (Leonard Cohen touring band) and half of Bruce Springsteen’s current horn section. Assisting on vocals are Cristin Milioti (Once, The Musical), Sam Amidon, Marketa Irglova and Aida Shahghasemi (Marketa Irglova touring band).

In recent months Hansard has been seen in the documentary The Swell Season which has toured the film festival circuit this year, contributed two songs to the blockbuster soundtrack, The Hunger Games, and been active in the promotion of Once, The Musical which successfully opened on Broadway on March 18 to rave reviews, including the New York Times who explains, “what was always wonderful about ‘Once,’ its songs and its staging, has been magnified.”

In 2007, Glen and Czech songstress Markéta Irglová took home the Academy Award for Best Original Song for “Falling Slowly” off the Once soundtrack. Hansard and Irglová continued the success of Once with the 2009 release Strict Joy under the namesake of The Swell Season.

“Glen Hansard is a gifted, emotive frontman who sings as if he must, with a heart on his sleeve that is constantly throbbing.” —The New York Times
