MusicTown calls for proposals

Dublin is one musictown_logo_smallof the world’s most animated cities of music. Dublin City Council is working in partnership with artists and music organisations to develop a new music festival for Dublin.

The first MusicTown festival takes place  between 10  – 19 April 2015.

ABOUT MUSICTOWN

MusicTown’s vision is to amplify the many voices to be heard in Dublin, from the celebrated to those we have yet to discover, across all genres, bringing people together to be surprised and inspired by the city and its music. Inspired by Handel’s legacy and innovation the Festival will also have a special place for his music.

MusicTown celebrates the best, the next and the unexpected.

MusicTown’s programme respects all genres of music (from classical, traditional, urban, jazz, contemporary and all stops in between), through a festival model that is sustainable, supportive and collaborative.

MusicTown will become an annual showcase of all genres of music being played in Dublin.

The BA (Hons) in Music Production program has provided some of the most gifted graduates to the Irish and International music production industry. The program provides all students with a comprehensive understanding of the entire production journey, from how to capture the individual sound of an artist or a band, to recording techniques, arranging, re mixing.

Pulse College hosts a Live Online Google Hangout Wednesday 8th October to launch the opening of 2015 enrolment to both the ‘MA in Scoring for Film & Visual Media’ & ‘BA (Hons) in Music Production’ programs. This free Q&A event will allow prospective students to join Pulse College online as they announce details of scholarships; showcase the world class facilities of the college; meet & greet members of their renowned tutors; and uncover the life of Irish and International students studying in Dublin.

Jason Makes It 10,000

The Irish Music Rights Organisation (IMRO), the organisation which represents songwriters, composers and music publishers reached a significant milestone this week with the help of Jason Boland, bass player/songwriter with leading Irish band Kodaline.Kodaline's Jason Boland reveives his certificate from Keith Johnson of IMRO making him the 10,000th member of the Irish Music Rights Organisation.

Jason has just been announced as the 10,000th member of the organisation which collects royalties for songwriters and music publishers for the public performance of their songs.

Kodaline were in studio recently recording tracks for their new album which follows on from their critically acclaimed hit album ‘In a Perfect World’.

As they head out later this month on a series of live dates across the USA playing to their ever growing American fanbase, 2015 is certainly shaping up to be a big year for the band.

Pearse Halpin Releases Follow-up Single ‘Your Story’

pearse halpinIrish Pop-Rocker Pearse Halpin has just released his latest self-penned single, ‘Your Story’, taken from his recently released album ‘The Trick To Living’.

Pearse, who is originally from Dublin, initially began to make his name in the music world after relocating to Kells, Co.Meath. He released his debut independent album, ‘Found It’ in March 2012, and since then has amassed a growing local following with his charismatic live performances with his band.

Searchlight Development Deal 2015 seeks new up and coming bands

searchlightSound Training College, Musicmaker and Temple Lane Studios are offering up and coming bands, a 5 month development deal, offering them a chance to record in top of the range studios, with first class equipment provided by Musicmaker and the opportunity to work with industry professionals, with the whole thing culminating in a professional gig at the Button Factory which sold out last year.

Applications are accepted from bands until this Friday (Oct 3rd), after which 4 bands will be selected to take part in the deal.
