Stolen City Prepare for New Single Release

Hot on the heels of their biggest headline gig to date, Stolen City are now preparing for their take-over of the Irish music scene with the release of their latest single, ‘Let Her Go.’

The upbeat, indie-rock tune will be available across the Dublin-based band’s social media platforms, as well as their Spotify, on June 22nd.

Popular music venue Drop Dead Twice saw fans gather to support the trio on May 19th and the Sold Out Show has heightened the excitement surrounding the release.

The band are hoping the song, written by themselves and produced by Michael Brady, will become a summer anthem for their loyal following – as well as gain them some new support.

Lead-singer Sean McGrath has said of the song: ‘Let Her Go is definitely one of our favourites to play live. It really gets the crowd involved and gets them all dancing, which we love to see.’

We’re just really excited for the release.

This is the second single to be released by the group this year, with video for the single ‘Last Night’ receiving over 20,0000 views via Facebook in early January.

Stolen City are a three-piece Dublin based band, comprised of David McCabe, Sean McGrath and Ian Bailey. The band have gigged across Ireland, bringing their acoustic rock and original song-writing everywhere from the main stage in Whelan’s to small family events. An up-and- coming band and definitely one to watch, the three musicians have a busy 2018 ahead of them as they look forward to more single releases, headlining gigs and further recording.

Emma Langford Re-releases ‘Tug O’ War’

Emma Langford was on the verge of throwing in the towel, before taking the shower that inspired ‘Tug O’ War’ – a track which launched her unexpectedly into the hearts and minds of strangers around the world.

‘Tug O’ War’ was created on the 17th of February in 2016 in a frenzied burst of inspiration, in response to a feeling of being “not good enough”.

The track featured in 2016 on Emma Langford’s debut self-titled EP.

This summer, ‘Tug O’ War’ will be re-released as a single, giving the tune once again its own chance to shine.

The track’s release in late May coincides with beginning of the artist’s Irish and European tour. Langford will also be releasing a remix of the track by Northern electronic artist Arvo Party, and a music video to accompany the single is currently in the works.

I’m looking forward to sending ‘Tug O’ War’ out into the world again – this song for me is a constant reminder of how far I’ve come, and why I’m in the music business, to share stories and connect with people.

Composed to the hum of an electric shower, arranged with a bust-up guitar and a loop pedal, and written as a stream-of-thought piece, ‘Tug O’ War’ is a gospel-infused folk song that speaks to the frustration, anxiety, self-doubt and ennui that strikes when a young artist is burning the candle at both ends just to try and catch a break.

Langford explains “I wasn’t in regular work at the time, I was finding it hard to leave the house. It doesn’t affect me as much these days, but I still get anxious a lot, and like any creative person I spend a lot of my time doubting myself, my creative choices, and, y’know, my life-choices!

The song is about not letting the little voice of anxiety inside your head stop you from brazenly going forth and reaching your potential.

In Spring 2016 she first released ‘Tug O’ War’ on a 6-track EP which featured Karl Nesbitt, Peter Hanagan and Clint Fitzgerald.

She went on in 2017 to re-imagine ‘Tug O’ War’ with a full band on “Quiet Giant”, her debut album produced by Grammy-nominated duo Chris O’Brien and Graham Murphy of the Production Suite in Dublin.

Following its release, the album was first showcased at the Irish Folk Festival tour in Germany and Switzerland in October/November 2017.

Emma is currently touring Ireland, the UK, and much of Europe, as well as celebrating the limited edition release of Quiet Giant on 12” vinyl, which will be available for purchase from her online store on Bandcamp, at gigs, and in-store exclusively at Steamboat Music in her hometown of Limerick city. King Bones Share Latest Single ‘Party Animals’

King  Bones  are a  6-piece synth-punk group from Dublin city. With some serious tunes under their belt, like ‘Who’s Got The Drugs’, they return with the anthemic lead track ‘Party Animals’.

Party Animals is taken from their forthcoming release ‘My Best Friend’ EP- which will feature 3 tracks (Right There, John Coltrane, Party Animals – Radio Edit) Produced by Ger McDonnell (U2, Kasabian, Manic  Street Preachers), the EP was recorded in Beechpark, Rathcoole & The Mill, Swords.

We’ve worked non-stop, day and night to get the particular sound we want… We reckon we’ve nailed it with this EP ’ explains Keith Hughes, lead singer and band songwriter.

Consistently looking to create new and interesting videos for their tracks, the band worked with John Broe and Dara Munnis for the release of ‘Who’s Got The Drugs’, an ambitious video shot in just one single take and featuring Keith Hughes. For the video to accompany ‘Party Animals’, they turned to director Max Carpio. He created an epic 24 hours in the life of 2 best friends in Barcelona, shot entirely on mobile phones. The result is a heady and heartwarming adventure.

Keith says, “It was a busy summer of gigs last year and the response to these new tracks has been incredible, beyond any expectations we could possibly have had. People still stop us in the street to rave about what our shows at last year’s Electric Picnic meant to them. Our ‘My Best Friend’ EP is for them.”

The Hot Sprockets Go On Interstellar Adventure In New Video

Dublin soul rockers The Hot Sprockets are back with a new video for ‘Imagine Us On The Sun’ taken from their new album ‘Dream Mover’ out now.

The video for ‘Imagine Us On The Sun’ – inspired by the original 60’s Star Trek series and the original TV series Monkey Magic – is a tongue-in-cheek parody following the interstellar adventures of the Sprockets as they blast through space in their Starship exploring alien planets. Along the way they get ambushed by primitive lifeforms, rogues and renegades.  Until, on one terrestrial planet, they encounter the vengeful Sun Queen and her minions, as she tries to steal all the energy from the sun – the source to all her powers.

Will this be the last stand for the Sprockets?  Find out in this hilarious video, that should equally entertain Mighty Boosh fans, as it will Sci-Fi enthusiasts. ‘Imagine Us On The Sun’ is taken from the band’s critically acclaimed third album ‘Dream Mover’, and is available from all digital platforms including their Bandcamp, Spotify, iTunes and Google Play.

‘Imagine Us On The Sun’  is a dreamy psychedelic rock ‘n’ roll love song taking hints of sound from music as diverse as Unknown Mortal Orchestra, Ariel Pink, and The Black Keys, yet with hallmark ‘Dream Mover’ sounds. Lyrically it looks to the sky for inspiration as love intertwines on a backdrop of the universal cycle – the sun, moon and stars – comparing the passion and fire of love to the unknown sky above.

Catch The Hot Sprockets live as they continue their nationwide tour following their sold out album launch at The Button Factory last month.
