Ruby Tina Shares Music Video For ‘Lie To Myself’

‘Lie To Myself’, Ruby’s third single and second music video release was debuted on November 19th 2018 for International Men’s Day.

A powerful performance by the lead actor, Liam Griffin, gives raw emotional insights into the struggle of dealing with common issues many men face in today’s world.

In Ruby’s own words, “It’s a story about one man’s struggle, a wife with a secret illness and a daughter needing a hero.”

Ruby Tina is an Irish-Canadian singer/songwriter and piano player based in Cork, Ireland.

Her debut EP, ‘Click My Heels’ was released in Summer 2018.

The songs blend her personal lyrics with the warmth and soul of R’n’B, the charismatic energy of Pop, and the edgy growl of Ruby’s Rock/Blues vocal roots.

‘Click My Heels’ is available for download on Spotify, iTunes, Deezer, Amazon Music and more.

Mick Konstantin Releases Debut EP

In the space of 2 years, Mick Konstantin built up quite a following, after two mega viral hits. First, ‘Takin Over France’, the Irish Football theme song of Euro 2016, which racked up more than 15 million hits online, after he performed it live in Bordeaux a week into the tournament. The following summer ‘There’s Only One Conor McGregor’ followed. A song which would go on to have international acclaim, written about the biggest boxing fight of all time, Conor McGregor vs Floyd Mayweather. It surpassed ‘Takin Over France’ in the millions of hits it built up worldwide leading up to the fight. Interviews followed with the likes of Sports Illustrated, ESPN, stations in Australia, South Africa, UAE and all over the US. Again, the song reached No. 1 in Ireland for weeks, but also made the top 20 in the UK, many European countries, and the Australian Charts. But by far the most exciting part of the experience was when McGregor himself heard the song, and loved it so much that he flew Konstantin over to Vegas, put him up in the same hotel as his family, and gave him 2 tickets to the fight itself.

A year on, and now it’s time to move on to the next chapter of the music career. Leaving these past songs behind, he’s now began moving into more mainstream music circles, and with this, comes the Debut EP, ‘Chancer’. As a full time teacher, Mick finally found time in the summer of 2018 to piece together his first ever EP. After the songs were written, it was over to London to get them recorded. Well renowned producers, Dan Dare and Ryan Keen, produced each track on the 4 Track EP. The songs move slightly away from the style previously associated with Mick, but don’t lose the feel-good and upbeat, mood and tempo, that’s been in his music from the very start. This is an exciting new beginning for Mick Konstantin, and one that will surely
make its mark on the, already thriving, Irish music scene.

Keep a close eye for the live shows and appearances that will follow in the coming weeks and months, as ‘Chancer’ gets released out into the world for all Mick Konstantin fans, and music enthusiasts, to hear.

New Video from Susie Q

Sometimes we need to just hold on when we feel like giving up,” says Co. Clare based singer, songwriter and musician Susie Q whose new song ‘Hold On’ offers a message of hope for all who are struggling. The track, featuring enchanting violin playing by Colm Mac Con Iomaire, recently hit no.1 in the alternative music category of the iTunes charts and was chosen by HotPress magazine as a ‘Song of the Day’. It is also accompanied by an evocative music video that captures the cycle of love and life.

Limerick-born Susie Q, also known as Susan Quirke, has been making her mark on the music scene since launching her debut track ‘Home’ earlier this year. The track, about the global refugee crisis, received extensive national radio airplay and she has performed at Electric Picnic and other festivals throughout Ireland. She has been praised by people such as RTÉ’s Ray D’Arcy who described her voice as having “echoes of Sinéad O’Connor and Dolores O’Riordain.”

Susie Q is also a meditation teacher and has worked in the area of mental health for several years. She says her work in this area has given her huge insights into many of the issues faced by people, something that has inspired much of her songwriting. With this latest release ‘Hold On’, written in Spanish Point in Co. Clare, she says she felt called to offer a message of hope to those who are struggling.

“I originally wrote the song for friends of mine who were struggling in their relationship and then I realised it also has a more universal theme that applies to most of us when the going gets tough. The song is a reminder for when we’re in our darkest hours that hard times do pass. It’s important to remember that many new moments of joy, peace of mind, connection and love are ahead of us. There is so much good waiting for us if we can hold on, and reach out for support when we need it. Life can be hard but also wonderful all at once, this is the dance of our shared humanity.”

‘Hold On’ features Colm Quearney (co-production, guitar, mandolin), Colm Mac Con Iomaire (violin), engineered by Ruth Kennington and mixed and mastered by Grammy award-winner David Odlum. The video for ‘Hold On’ is directed by Elijah Egan of Seven Figure Films.

Enda Reilly Set for Whelan’s EP Launch

Fresh off the back of his UK and Ireland tour as special guest for renowned poet Stephen James Smith, multi-disciplinary folk artist Enda Reilly is set to perform a one off event at Whelan’s on December 9th with very special guest Sive.

The show will mark the release of Enda’s new EP Where The Sweetest Waters Flow.

Expect an interactive showcase of story telling and carefully crafted songs that reinforce the fact that Enda Reilly is taking giant steps to becoming one of Ireland’s premier folk musicians.

Enda Reilly is a folk singer, songwriter and guitarist drawing influences from the likes of Christy Moore, John Martyn, Nick Drake and Dick Gaughan.

Firmly rooted in the past with songs that strive for a better future, Enda Reilly’s work invites you to see the world from his varied and unique perspective through each new song.

Enda’s songs are explorations, meditations, affirmations, introductions, reminder notes, science-art experiments, wake-up calls, mythical journeys, collaborations, prayers and celebrations.

Reilly’s journey began with his first band The Mongrels, to his first solo album ‘Oxygen21’ led to his Climate Change Songs Workshops, where his catchy songs and passion for science come through to educate students on this vital topic.

Alongside the trail blazing poet Stephen James Smith, Enda released ‘Arise And Go’ an exploration of spoken word and song which was selected by Hot Press as one of the best albums of 2011 and the pair have teamed up for well received shows over the years including Reilly touring as a special guest for Stephen James Smiths recent UK and Ireland tour in celebration of his debut book of poetry ‘Fear Not’.

Among Enda’s accomplishments as a songwriter he won the IMRO Christy Hennessy Songwriting Competition 2012 (with Christine Deady) and his co-write with Aoife Scott ‘All Along The Wild Atlantic Way’ won Single Of The Year 2016/2017.

Reilly’s education was through the Irish language and he returned to those roots for Amhráin Nua i nGaeilge, the purpose of which was to create a full album of newly composed songs in Gaelic.

Reilly was recruited as guitarist to work with Ireland’s finest Irish language poets and authors through IMRAM, on many theatre projects where he has composed fitting musical soundscapes to poetry recitations by the likes of O Ríordán, Ó Direáin, Maude, Ó Muirthile, Jenkinson, de Paor and many projects with and featuring the translations of Gabriel Rosenstock.

Enda has also performed with the theatre group Everlasting Voices in India and Japan and with actor/director Cathal Quinn and producer Tristan Rosenstock on many projects including Blood On The Rose – Poems of 1916.

Enda’s ‘Whorls’ album gives a fresh perspective on the poetry of WB Yeats by bringing it off the page, turning each poem into a song, careful to keep the essence of the piece and to bring out the feeling of it through music.

Forthcoming live dates

Whelan’s, Dublin Sunday, December 9th. 8pm W/ Special Guest Sive.

Saint Sister, Kormac and Jafaris Collaborate

Saint Sister has teamed up with top producer Kormac and hip-hop star Jafaris to release a unique version of the duo’s hit song ‘Causing Trouble’. The song will be officially released across all streaming services on Friday 30th November.

This summer all three artists collaborated with Three for its #MadebyMusic initiative with each creating a visually stunning music video for one of their songs. ‘Made by Music’ celebrates and recognises the power of music to unite people and create lasting connections, and with the release of this unique take on Saint Sister’s ‘Causing Trouble’ these artists have made the ultimate music connection.

An organic music connection evolved when the three artists came together to perform this truly unique version of the Saint Sister tract at the exclusive launch of the campaign. Each artist brought their distinct style to the popular song creating a really innovative sound.

The overwhelming positive response to this once-off musical collaboration has led to the artists preforming the track live on national radio and at leading Irish festival, Electric Picnic. Most recently, Saint Sister invited Kormac and Jafaris to join them on stage at their first headline show in the Olympia Theatre. A venue which has played host to many amazing performances, the surprise collaboration brought the audience to their feet, receiving a rapturous ovation from the crowd in attendance.

The first of its kind, ‘Made by Music’ is an innovative move from Three to team up with three emerging Irish artists, each with very different music styles, with the aim of helping them to spread their talent to new audiences, the success of which can be seen in the incredible performance of the videos on YouTube, collectively amassing over 6 million views.

She Said So Host Streaming Event

The streaming world, still very much in its infancy, can be confusing and sometimes frustrating. What is playlist strategy? How do I get people to hear my music? How many services are there and how does each one work? While there are no direct answers to a lot of these questions, there are a number of different ways to use these platforms to your advantage.

The workshop will be hosted by Ceri Dixon who is currently the Head of Digital Partnerships at Ireland’s biggest Independent record label and management company Rubyworks Records (Hozier, Rodrigo y Gabriela, Hudson Taylor, Otherkin, Little Hours, Wyvern Lingo, Eve Belle). Having played a key role in the creation of Universal Music UK’s streaming department in 2014, Ceri then spent the next four years managing streaming accounts across the group until late last year.

The workshop is free to women/non-binary people working or interested in working in the industry but booking is essential. Places can be confirmed by emailing shesaidsodublin@nullgmail.com. It will also be the last She Said So event of the year so come along, have a drink and meet other women working in the industry in Dublin.
