U.M.A.N. Shares ‘Listen To Your Children’

U.M.A.N has just releasd his latest single, ‘Listen To Your Children’, inspired by the actions of students following the Florida school shootings.

‘Listen To Your Children’ is a powerful anthem and is accompanied by an equally moving video which was created by an American who grew up in a pro-gun area in Kansas, taught to shoot when she was 8 years old by her father, a gunsmith and NRA member.

With a global theme, a powerful vocal performance and superb production, this is sure to generate a reaction from radio listeners across the country.

Out now on all platforms, all profits of the sale of the single will go to charity.

U.M.A.N (an acronym for U. Must. Act. Now) released his soul single ‘Flamin’ Day’ in late 2017 and after receiving it first ever play on the Ian Dempsey Show on Today FM, the single went onto break the top 30 radio chart and led to performances on The Late Late Show, Electric Picnic and a sold-out nationwide tour.

His follow up single ‘Lord also received critical acclaim and significant national radio play.

He will be releasing his new album in May 2019 and will be supporting this with a nationwide tour.

This infectious dance track has rising UK MC artist C Cane on the feature verse. C Cane is causing a storm in the UK at the minute, shutting down grime shows with her explosive bars and releasing music with the likes
of Dizzee Rascal in 2018.

As an extra treat, the amazing all pink – everything pink themed visuals for ‘Love Tonight’ will be dropping the same day! Directed by Ovie and produced by Diffusion Lab, it’s a high energy, girl boss vibe video which is all about having fun and embracing your feminine side.

New Music from October Fires

‘Screaming Red’ is the third single by Kildare ‘Dark Pop’ band October Fires and the second single off their debut EP ‘Everybody Knows’. Since forming in late 2017 and releasing their first single in June 2018, the band have been likened to a Radiohead meets Tori Amos by Hot Press Magazine, a blend of Sneaker Pimps and Portishead by REMY, Lisa Hannigan-esque by Nialler 9, and other great reviews from The Last Mixed Tape and Barry Gruff to name a few. They featured in Hot Press both online and in the Autumn Magazine edition.

They’ve been interviewed and performed on RTE 1’s ‘The Arena Show’ with John Rocks and by award winning DJ, Roddy Cleere on KCLR FM in mid November. They played a number of gigs last year, sharing the bill with artists including Gavin Glass, Sibéal, Delush, Ross Breen, The Bonnymen and Ger Cunningham, together with a few solo performances as well.

October Fires are a four-piece group consisting of Carol Somers on piano, vocals and percussion, Lisa Baker on piano, vocals and percussion, Eoghan O’Neill on bass and Eric Somers on guitar.

Their style is difficult to pin down but the band describe their music as haunting, harmonic, dark pop. They take influences from choral music, classical, pop, soul, funk, folk, rock and fuse them together to create their unique sound.

The band’s name was inspired by the smoky scent in the air walking home from practice one autumn night. October has a unique vibe, with its perfect blend of beauty and eeriness, a trademark of the band’s sound and their music is continually inspired by this balance.

Carol and Lisa met in 2002 studying music in Maynooth University. They’ve been inseparable ever since after finding an innate ability to harmonise together, even being able to predict what the other is about to do! This bond has become the central feature of the band.

October Fires entered into the new found home of Orphan Recording Studio this summer, in the beautiful surroundings of Hell Fire Studios, overlooking the flickering Dublin City skyline, to record the bands’ debut EP entitled ‘Everybody Knows’. This record is a snapshot of the different tones and moods of the band, from the ominous opening track ‘Screaming Red’ to the mellower, intimate ‘Creeping In’, from the tongue-in-cheek grooves of ‘Digging Holes’ to the more tribal, ritualistic Pray II. Recorded, mixed and produced by Gavin Glass, this debut EP is set to place October Fires in a unique sonic space.

New Single from Dublin Duo All Tvvins

All Tvvins’ build-up ahead of the release of their second album ‘Just To Exist’ continues to gather momentum. Its first two singles, ‘Hell of a Party’ and ‘Infinite Swim’, have picked up radio support from 2FM, Radio X and Today FM together with a number of key playlists such as key playlists at Spotify (New Music Friday), Apple Music (Best of the Week) and Deezer (Brand New UK).

The duo’s next step comes with today’s release of their new single ‘Build A Bridge’. It’s a track which adds an inventive new touch to All Tvvins’ widescreen sound. It opens with an enticing vocal loop which gives the song an immediately irresistible edge before melding into the kind of bold hook in which the duo have forged their reputation. The production is full of leftfield, modernist elements while Conor Adams’ vocals possess an elegant phrasing which maximises its buoyantly optimistic vibe.

The track emerged when All Tvvins created a vocal loop that was too manic to use but too intriguing to ignore. After drastically dropping its BPM and lowering its pitch, it evolved into the central ‘Build A Bridge’ groove. The remainder of the song – produced by their friend and collaborator James Vincent McMorrow – was completed that same session

“It was a huge pay off when we figured it out,” says Lar Kaye, glowing at the memory. “All three of us knew we had something amazing.”

Conor’s lyrics were written to evoke an atmosphere rather than to make a specific statement. As he explains, “I wanted to convey the feeling when you’re driving out in the mountains with a summer evening sunset and anything seems possible.”

‘Build A Bridge’ is accompanied by another new track in the shape of ‘My Future’. An unclassifiable mix of off-kilter indie with sonic elements which recall the current Afrobeats scene, it shows that All Tvvins continue to be predictably unpredictable.

In addition to their latest tracks, All Tvvins have also been building up their live plot for 2019. They’ve confirmed their biggest headline show to date at Dublin’s National Stadium, which will be the first time in years that the venue has included a standing area for a gig. The show features special guest Sorcha Richardson, who contributes vocals to their forthcoming album track ‘No One Is Any Fun’.

They’re also confirmed for a headline European tour in May, huge sold-out outdoor show at the Irish Independent Park with The Coronas and Sigrid, as well as the Indie 19 Festival which will be headlined by Biffy Clyro and Bastille.

Their tour dates are:

APRIL
13th – Dublin, Ireland, National Stadium (Headline)

JUNE
22nd – Cork, Irish Independent Park (with The Coronas and Sigrid)

AUGUST
2nd – 4th – Cork, Indie 19 (headlined by Biffy Clyro and Bastille)

All Tvvins enjoyed a phenomenal start to their career. Their debut album ‘IIVV’ shot into the Irish charts at #2, earned a Choice Music Prize nomination for Irish Album of the Year and smashed the 15 million streams landmark. Meanwhile, gigs in the UK and Ireland included a life-affirming sold-out show at Dublin’s historic Olympia Theatre as well as a tour as guests to Metric.

Stay tuned for more All Tvvins news soon, including further details on the album ‘Just To Exist’.

Jacob Henley Shares ‘Train Rider’

Canadian-native and now Dublin-based singer-songwriter Jacob Henley is thrilled to announce the February 1st release of ‘Train Rider’ – a lucid and alluring track co-written by nationally-lauded songwriter, Ryan O’Shaughnessy alongside Andrew Dawson and Ralph Murphy. With visual lyrics, emotionally wrought vocals and an eruptive guitar-driven chorus, Jacob Henley’s debut single reflects upon discovering love in the most unexpected places. Engaging listeners with its vivid relatability, ‘Train Rider’ envisions an instant moment of attraction between strangers. While the track evokes a sincere sense of vulnerability at first, a feeling of anticipation and hope for what might be soon reveals itself. Produced by Matt Weir and Pete Wallace – known for their work with Bryan Adams – ‘Train Rider’ introduces listeners to a collection of highly-anticipated original tracks, set to be released by Henley throughout the year.

After years of writing and performing in Toronto, Nashville, and London, Jacob Henley moved from Canada to Dublin in 2018. Having devoted the past twelve months to developing his unique vocal and playing style, Henley has quickly earned wide acclaim, across Ireland and beyond. Teaming honest and heartfelt compositions with warm, inviting vocals, Henley is a truly endearing and fresh, new talent on the scene.

Besides writing and recording his own music, Henley has also contributed to co-writes with an array of Irish musicians. Most notably, his vocals and writing feature on ‘Every Line & Curve’, the recent alt-pop single from Irish producer 1000 Beasts.

The Gloaming Receive IMRO Award

Yesterday IMRO took the chance to present The Gloaming with their IMRO Award in recognition of their Independent No1 Album, ‘Live At The NCH’. Released in March 2018, the album was recorded during the band’s now annual residencies in the National Concert Hall, Dublin.

The IMRO Number 1 Award was introduced to acknowledge IMRO members who reach number 1 in the album charts here in Ireland.

In recent years, The Gloaming have truly become a live force to be reckoned with. The annual NCH residencies have each sold out quicker than the previous one and faster than new shows can be added. Away from home, their international touring schedule has been equally impressive, including such notable nights out as the Ceiliúradh at London’s Royal Albert Hall (a celebration of the Irish President’s first-ever state visit to Britain), Sydney’s Opera House, New York’s Lincoln Center, Hamburg’s Elbphilharmonie, Mexico City’s Teatro de la Ciudad, and Philharmonie de Paris.

To put ‘Live at the NCH’ together Thomas Bartlett, the band’s producer, sifted through two years of performances and settled on six tracks: ‘The Booley House’, ‘Cucanandy’, ‘The Sailor’s Bonnet’, ‘The Pilgrim’s Song’, ‘The Rolling Wave’ and ‘Fáinleog’. Using the studio recordings only as points of departure, these performances stretch out and roam in unexpected new directions, incorporating new tunes and rearranging old ones, filled with the excitement and delight of five master musicians coming together as one.

The Gloaming concert experience consistently raises the roof and leaves audiences breathless. This band of trailblazers take contemporary Irish music into hitherto unchartered waters, enhancing the traditional rich, melancholic tones with modern hues of jazz, contemporary classical, chamber, post rock and experimental music.
