Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark have just announced that Ireland’s Tiny Magnetic Pets will be their tour support for the second time. This news comes after last week’s announcement by Midge Ure that Tiny Magnetic Pets will be joining him for 15 dates on the Irish and European leg of The 1980, Vienna – Visage Tour.
TMP supported Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark on the 22 date UK leg of The Punishment of Luxury tour in 2017. TMP will be joining the band on their 40th Anniversary tour in Ireland and Germany.

Songwriter & folk
singer, Lynda Cullen independently released her eagerly awaited 2nd solo album,
Smoke Without a Fire in August of
this year.
Her latest collection of
songs was recorded live at The Hayti Heritage Centre, St.Joseph’s Sanctuary in
Durham, North Carolina in November 2018. Local Durham musicians Rob Sharer
(guitar and mandolin), Robert Cantrell (drums) and Hugh Crumley (double bass)
came on board with the project following a tour in March 2018.
With producer and engineer
Dave Tilley at the helm, the live recording brings a touch of the Southern vibe
to her instantly recognisable voice and guitar style. Smoke Without a Fire also features guest performances from renowned
NC artists Pattie Le Seuer (vocals), Bill Newton (harmonica), John Curry
(dobro) and Libby Rodenbough (fiddle)
Since the release of her
first solo album, Paper Boat in 2014, Lynda has performed at various folk
festivals and gigs throughout Europe, as well as touring in South Korea for a
reunion with former bandmates Second Moon.
Sean OB has released the video for his latest single ‘Two Last Cans’, the first track to be taken from the upcoming EP ‘Cigarettes & Perfume’ due for release later this year.
‘Two Last Cans’ is a song written about a hard breakup that really shook Sean to his core, “I don’t think I’ve ever truly recovered from the breakup. It sent me on a long harrowing spiral. I’m not exactly sure, but I think it’s about learning how to live with regret and let go of things that you can’t take back or change no matter how much they fuck with your head.”
Shot around Dublin City and Smock Alley, Directors Ian Downes & James Clarke explain the concept behind the video, “The idea came strongly from the fantastic lyrical makeup, it was to portray the mask we all wear every day, to let it crumble and inevitably free ourselves from it. However, life isn’t really that simple, sometimes we just start all over again.”
Displaying remarkable skills as a song-writer and
lyricist, Sean writes with a hard-hitting honesty. He counts stand-up comedians
like Doug Stanhope and Bill Hicks as influences that are just as important as
the likes of Hunter S. Thompson and John Lennon. But there’s an inherent
falseness about “happy” songs that doesn’t sit terribly well with him, either.
“All the best songs are sad songs!” he notes.
“A great love song draws on a lot of insecurities. You have to go to a place.
I’m always writing, but you have to feel something and really sit with it. If I
can get just one sentence that I feel like I wish someone else would sing to
me, then I can start. It usually comes pretty quick after that. It might sound
weird, but I take a lot of happiness from that.”
‘Two Last Cans’ is out now. Sean OB performs at Whelan’s tonight, Wednesday September 4th
Upcoming
Tour Dates:
4th September Whelan’s, Dublin 14th September The Camden Crush, Rock n Roll Rescue, London 5th October The Amersham Arms, London.
Fresh off the Elecrtric Picnic 2019 stage, Elliott Mo is reading his remix of Xo Mo’s ‘Bad Habit’ for release on September 6th 2019.
“‘Bad Habit’ is a modern take on control and unrequited feelings in a love exchange, drawing sonic influences from both contemporary pop and hip-hop. The remix or edit by Elliott Mo serves as his own take on the track from his perspective.”
The release follows on a successful year consisting of four singles, which found their place on Spotify’s Editorial Playlists including New Music Friday UK, Spotify’s Fresh Finds New Pop Revolution, A Breath of Fresh Éire and A New Éire, features in HotPress. Accompanied by a run of festival performances concluding with a performance in Electric Picnic’s Electric Arena and much national radio attention as well as their 3rd single ‘Wild Dogs’ being featured on Made In Chelsea’s 2019 season premiere.
Robert Grace releases new single ‘I’m Here Too’ on September 6th.
Following on from the success of his last single ‘Moving Fast’ which was ‘Tune of the Week’ on 2FM, amongst extensive airplay on other stations, Robert releases his new track ‘I’m Here Too’ (on Kobalt / AWAL) on September 6th.
Sounding like Shawn Mendes meets Charlie Puth Robert has the ability to write slices of cool heartfelt pop readymade for radio.
Previous releases have garnered him ‘Artist of the Week’ on Today FM, led to an A Playlisting on 2FM for his track ‘Wanna Love’ and he has had three songs top the 7 at 7 charts on Beat 102-103.
His track ‘The Good Place’ was added to the influential Easy playlist on Spotify where his last three releases have clocked up over 600,000 streams. An excellent live performer Robert has performed to capacity crowds at Ireland’s biggest festivals Electric Picnic and Indiependence.
In recent years Robert has developed into a songwriter
of note. He wrote three and co-produced four tracks on Hometown’s 2016 chart
topping album in Ireland. Hometown were managed by Louis Walsh & were
signed by Colin Barlow at RCA.
Robert has also co-written with some of the best-known songwriters in the UK including: Dan McDougall (The Wanted, The Shires) Blair MacKichan (Paloma Faith/Sia/Lily Allen)Phil Thornalley (Natalie Imbruglia/Pixie Lott) Josh Wilkinson (One Direction / 5 seconds of Summer)
Last month Shane (Tex) Fallon gave us ‘Stuck Inside This Rhythm’, a cracker of a summer song. It’s a top tune, and the accompanying video conveying Shane’s acting talents perfectly! It’s retro, happy and Shane seems very at ease in his anchorman eske role.
“We had great fun making the video – which I think is obvious in the result, massively inspired by Anchorman and the humour myself and Nic from Camoberg productions share, he had the idea based on the lyrics and sentiment of the song and the result is, I believe, a great video which hopefully will make people smile at me or with me and get into the song or dance along to it.” Shane Fallon
Shane’s voice is possibly the best-known instrument within his band , The Shoos, and while the band is planning on going back into studio later this summer, ahead of new music from the band The Shoos front man was eager to bring us this gem. It’s infectious.
While working
on this song, Shane and his wife were also adding to their family with their
second baby, James born just three months old. Their little girl, Sophie is
just 1 year 3mths!
As a band, The Shoos has impressed many industry heavy weights through the years. This admiration was cemented by many of these inviting the band to guest on their live shows, including One Republic, Maroon 5, Life House & Taylor Hawkins (Foo Fighters). Indeed, on the release of the band’s last long play, 2016’s self-titled The Shoos , the band was asked to guest with Jeff Lynne at his 3Arena show in Dublin, just a few weeks later. This guest slot was quickly followed by an invitation directly from Jeff Lynne and his management to play his home town show at Birmingham Arena later the same summer.
Shane packs ‘Stuck Inside This Rhythm’ with similar energy he gives to all his records and live performances. It’s a stomper of a track, you get it also!
Cat Lundy, a 60’s, blues-inspired storyteller. With raw, unapologetic emotion, she delivers her truth. Her debut album ‘9 Lives’ is influenced by love, heartbreak and relationships. A classically trained vocalist from the Royal Academy of Music, and a self-taught guitarist, she has performed her original songs in venues in London, New York’s ‘The Bitter End’ (where she had a residency) and Los Angeles’ ‘House of Blues’.
Cat finished recording her debut
album with producer Ger Mc Donnell in 2018. Ger has worked with artists
such as U2, Kasabian, The Cure and Martha Wainwright…to name a few.
What Cat has to say about music: “I believe music can change the world around us, even if it is for just three and a half minutes.”
She has supported Fantastic Negrito, American Grammy winner on his Irish tour; ‘…. Cat has it all, she has the goods’ – Fantastic Negrito 2019. She has been described from reviews as “a breath of fresh air, she is sweet, salty and a first-class storyteller.” “Vocally she is smooth as honey.”
Cat controls each song from the start to finish. She is effortless and cool and knows how to lure her listeners in. You can hear a pin drop as she holds her audience spellbound. The brand new single ‘Burn’ is out now, taken from her forthcoming studio album.
It has been another stellar year in radio broadcasting on the island of Ireland and the crème de la crème were today announced on the IMRO Radio Awards 2019 shortlist. A major highlight of the industry year, the Awards, which are sponsored by IMRO and BAI, will take place on Friday 4th October at the Lyrath Estate Hotel Kilkenny. The names of those taking home the trophies will be a closely guarded secret until the night itself.
Prior to the main Awards night, the IMRO Hall of Fame induction ceremony will be held at the BAI offices on Tuesday 24th September. Four new inductees will be awarded the honour and join the list of those who have made significant contributions to radio in Ireland.
Speaking about the significance of the event, Chair of the IMRO Radio Awards committee, Tom McGuire said “The IMRO Radio Awards is an important media milestone as it recognises the excellence of Irish radio; celebrates the contribution of broadcasters to the national conversation and for one night only brings together the nation’s stations.”
Eleanor McEvoy, IMRO Chairperson said “After much deliberation and debate the judges have selected an incredible shortlist of 185 Finalists whose broadcasting output fully embodies the broad spectrum of radio content in Ireland today. Irish audiences’ appetite for quality radio output continues to grow, fuelling outstanding creativity, story-telling and audience engagement from broadcasters throughout the country. And this is abundantly evident from the quality of submissions received this year. We wish all of the shortlisted entrants the very best of luck.”
Michael O’Keefe, Chief Executive of BAI said “The BAI is delighted to support the IMRO Radio Awards 2019, which recognise creativity and excellence in the Irish radio sector and highlight the impressive level of high-quality, culturally relevant radio content available to audiences in Ireland. The IMRO awards are highly regarded and coveted and the BAI congratulates all the shortlisted candidates and wishes them well on the awards night in October.”

The priest who anointed Lyra McKee speaks
hours after the murder
An award-winning, double-platinum
selling artist, Mick Flannery’s self-titled sixth album released July 2019,
soared to #1 in the Irish album charts, and has been warmly received at live
shows to packed audiences across Ireland, the UK and USA this summer.
Continuing his successful streak, Mick has released a striking cinematic video for one of the album’s stand out tracks ‘Star to Star’.
Chatting about the video, Mick
said: “This is the
song that put my latest album in motion, so I’m very glad it’s getting it’s own
movie here. I like how the video takes a different angle on the album’s
concept. The song references high’s of fame and success and not wanting to let
go, the video mirrors these themes in another aspect of life. Thank you to all
involved.”
Director
Emily Dynes commented: “Creating the visuals to match the epic emotions
and beauty of Mick Flannery’s gorgeous track ‘Star To Star’ was a daunting, but
incredibly rewarding task. Operating with a tiny but passionate crew of four,
it was a joy to undertake a real-life road trip through rural Australia to
bring this music video to life, and to direct the supremely talented Makuei
King Aken and Catherine Morvell.”
See Mick perform live as he continues his extensive autumn/winter tour across the USA, Canada, UK, and Ireland. Recently added shows include a fourth and final date at Lost Lane Dublin, and December shows at the Westport Townhall Mayo, Kenny’s Lahinch, DeBarra’s Clonakilty, Riverbank Arts Centre Kildare, Bantry House West Cork, Róisín Dubh Galway, and Dolan’s Warehouse Limerick.

‘Wildfire’ was initially created in Leo Dynamic1’s
studio in Ireland in 2017. The project was introduced to Laura Leighe in Los
Angeles, who loved the vibe and went on to write lyrics and melody, as well as
record the amazing vocal.
‘Wildfire’ is Leo and Laura’s first
collaboration, with very early success as the track was used in the promotional
video for the Hawaiian Imua Color Music Festival 2019.
Leo Dynamic1 is an award winning Songwriter and
Producer from Dublin, Ireland. He is also known as ‘The Punching Producer’ as
he is a 2 time National Boxing Champion, fought in Ireland, UK. & USA and
shared the boxing ring with 3 World Champions.
He has been writing and producing on a full-time
basis for 3 years, prior to that on a part time basis for circa 7 years. In
July 2018 he signed a global distribution & development deal with
Kobalt/AWAL Music group. His music has received radio play worldwide and has in
excess of 1.5 million streams via Spotify/YouTube/Soundcloud.
On February 14th 2019 he released ‘Let Me Love
You’ and went straight to Number 1 on the Dutch Dance Top 40 chart on Spotify. On
June 13th 2019 he released ‘Just For You’ and it was added to over 30 Playlists
on Spotify while also receiving radio play across major stations in Ireland.
His latest release ‘Mango’ on July 25th 2019 was immediately added to over 25
playlists on Spotify and is currently receiving radio play in Ireland.
Recently he appeared live at Pride in Amsterdam at Rembrandt Square and played to a crowd of over 10,000 people. He also writes and produces for other artists and produced 2 Top Ten Hits for DJ Shog with Sony Music Germany. Leo Dynamic1 writes music for TV and has had placements on MTV USA and TV adverts. He can produce in multiple genres from Hip Hop, Pop, Dance, Ballads and EDM. One of his songwriting awards was for a Country song in which he wrote and produced, which makes him quite “Dynamic”!!
