Sophie Doyle Ryder Presents ‘Little Black Book’

Rising Irish Pop Star Sophie Doyle Ryder is excited to release her 4th single ‘Little Black Book’. The 18 Y/O Singer-Song writer from Malahide has drawn comparisons to Rihanna, Ariana Grande and Anne Marie.

Sophie’s infectious third single ‘Too Much’ landed earlier this year and secured 10 weeks in the top 100 Irish Artists on Irish radio, peaking at no. 9. She secured Track of the Day, Week and Month with a lot of Irish media and it was a huge turning point in her career. ‘Too Much’ has earned over 7 million Irish radio impacts and she remains as ‘One To Watch’ by many. In addition to International Spotify playlist placements, she also entered the Top 40 of all acts played on Irish radio in September and has received airplay in the UK, USA and Australia.

It will be a busy end of 2020 for Sophie as she is also featuring in the next Irish Woman In Harmony Christmas single. She extremely excited to be asked to join such an incredible successful project.

Sophie has grown into her own style of music and has found her unique sound. There is a consistent theme of female empowerment throughout her music. Sophie has teamed up with Grammy-Nominated producer Billy Farrell for ‘Little Black Book’.  ‘Little Black Book’ is a fun, cheeky and fierce song that is a guaranteed ear-worm for her listeners.

Sophie loves artists such as Ariana Grande, Alicia Keys, Rihanna and Lady Gaga. The authenticity of these artists is what inspires Sophie’s performance style and song-writing.  She finds all aspects of music as a form of therapy. She’s been writing ever since she was 10.

Sophie is very excited for her first headline show with MCD in Whelan’s (Upstairs) on 3rd March 2021. It will feature some unreleased music and some epic covers with a world-class band.

Bitch Falcon Releases Brand-New Single ‘How Did I Know?’ and Announce Album Release Party Details

‘How Did I Know?’ is the final single to be released from Bitch Falcon before their upcoming highly anticipated debut album ‘Staring At Clocks’ due out next Friday, 6th November via Small Pond. ‘How Did I Know?’ is out now.

‘How Did I Know?’ follows hit singles ‘Gaslight’, ‘Test Trip’ and ‘Martyr’ all taken from ‘Staring At Clocks’.  All tracks garnered massive success across radio in Ireland and UK and streaming platforms.

Speaking about the final record to be released from their upcoming album Lizzie Fitzpatrick explains:

“‘How Did I Know’ an expression of frustration around someone I love and their problems. Although I suffer from my own demons, sometimes it can be frustrating to see someone you love to give up everything they are and what you love about them. ‘How Did I Know?’ refers to not knowing what to do in these circumstances, perhaps a childish defence to dire situations? When someone you love is at the edge of your grasp, it can be so terrifying that your reaction is to let go.”

Bitch Falcon are delighted to celebrate their album release on Friday, 6th November at 8 PM in a special listen along launch party hosted by MayKay.

Located in Ruth Medjber’s new space ‘The Living Room’, The Dean Arts Studio in the heart of Dublin’s City Centre. Except to see Tunes, interviews and some special guests.

Shot by Andrew Gemmell (‘Little Thing Called Love’ video), the video includes never before seen footage from their wedding day, creating a full hearted, emotional, beautiful and intimate video.

Ronan says of the track: “At heart it’s a country song. It’s just got so much heart. When you’re in that relationship, it says what you want to say: ‘there’s not enough hours in the day, there’s not years in our life.

It’s sad, tough, but there’s beauty in it. It’s like a Nicholas Sparks novel. It’s got all the warmth, the love and the juicy bits you want in a love song.

The album ‘Twenty Twenty’ is Out Now.

Moncrieff Set to Release Hotly Anticipated New Single ‘America’

2020 has been a huge year for Moncrieff, and has seen him featured on a host of 2020 hot lists (2FM ‘Rising Artist of 2020’, Goldenplec ‘Plec Pics’ for 2020 and named as one of Her.ie’s ‘Ones To Watch’ for 2020 amongst them). Now he is set to release his hotly anticipated new single ‘AMERICA’ tomorrow the 30 October 2020, as well as announcing the release of his second EP ‘The Class of 2020’, which is out on the 27 November 2020.

‘AMERICA’ is a satirical social commentary on the big brother of the world disguised as a tik tok friendly viral internet urban pop banger. On the surface, ‘AMERICA’ has no other initial motive other than to make you move and sing along – however the lyrics when read tell a different story. Under the surface of the upbeat production the song’s lyrics hit a deeper note that comments on some of the absurdities of American culture, centred around consumerism and materialism. “We spend money we don’t have on things we don’t need to impress people we don’t like.”

Speaking about the EP, Moncrieff says: “I had planned to release my second EP earlier this year but I felt after all the world kind of came to a standstill that maybe I should hold off. Nobody had a clue what was happening and the music didn’t feel fully right for the time. Then I realised these are the times that I had actually always dreamt about writing songs for and being able to make music that had a voice in this bizarre time we’re in.

Moncrieff’s debut body of work ‘The Early Hurts’ EP featured lead track ‘Like I Do’, this debut radio single (released in Sept 2019) received extensive airplay across national radio racking up nearly 12 million audience impressions and 5 million streams. The success of the single and EP led to Moncrieff selling out his first headline show in Dublin in less than 3 hours. His growing reputation also landed support slots touring with headline Irish acts Picture This and Walking on Cars.

Having spent most of early 2020 in the solitude of his friend and co-producer Toby Scott’s home studio in Brighton, what has resulted is a collection of songs free and unconfined by genre that capture the zeitgeist of an ever changing musical and cultural landscape. With the current state of world affairs in turmoil, this new chapter sees Moncrieff explore his role and place as a young person transitioning into adulthood in a world that seems to be getting crazier by the day.

‘AMERICA’ the brand new single from Moncrieff is out on the 30 October 2020 across all streaming platforms. ‘The Class of 2020’ EP is out on the 27 November 2020.

New EP from Yasya ‘Clean Love’

Singer-songwriter Yasya was born in Lviv, USSR, moved to Hungary as a teenager and is now residing in Dublin. Yasya released her debut album ‘Down The Hill’ in 2010. The release of this alternative folk-rock album led to Yasya taking part in summer music festivals on the same stage as Republic and Zagar. Yasya’s energetic performance style allowed her to support touring rock band Kischillag in Trafo. Many fusion and folk acoustic festivals followed such as Europe’s biggest country and folk music festival – Porta festival. Yasya also played Valley of Art (Fusion Radio, HU), National Folk Acoustic Festival (Szeged, HU), International Acoustic and Bluegrass Festival (Albaliget, HU) as well as playing some of the most notable places in Budapest including A38 boat, Godor Club, Almassy Hall and Take 5 Jazz club.

Yasya’s album featured a song collaboration ‘Down the Hill (Reprise)’ with harmonica virtuoso Matyas Pribojszki and the beatbox champion DJ Revolution. Yasya again collaborated with DJ Revolution to record her single ‘Szivlako’ in 2013. ‘Szivlako’ evolved from an adaptation of Yasya’s bossa nova song ‘Flowers Bloom’ from her album ‘Down the Hill’. ‘Flowers Bloom’, a song about heartbreak was adapted by extraordinary lyricist Tariska Szabolcs, who is a writer for established Hungarian acts such as Peterfi Bori & The Love Band and Magashegyi Underground. The adaptation was retitled ‘Szivlako’ that means ‘someone who lives inside your heart’. The new lyrics transformed the meaning of a song about heart break into something warm and hopeful. The single received radio play on Hungarian Jazzy Radio FM 90.9 and Yasya was offered an amazing opportunity by the Canadian Hungarian Authors Organisation to perform at the Hungarian Community Festival in Toronto, Canada. While in Toronto, Yasya was introduced to artist management company Crown Productions, who offered her studio time with an engineer/producer who inspired her to write and produce her first electro pop song ‘Drive’. Collaborations with multiple electro-dance producers followed, including 4 co-writes with Revue who’s album ‘Digital Love’ features Yasya as lead vocal on 3 of those songs.

While living in Hungary Yasya studied at Theba Academy of Arts experimenting with dance styles such as ballet, hip-hop and contemporary dance, as well as singing jazz and opera. For fun she also immersed herself into heavier music styles by performing as a lead singer of a Red Hot Chili Peppers cover band ‘Venice Queen’. She also attended the film & acting school ‘GTC’, formed by Hungarian film director/screenwriter Andras Salamon, where she learned from the incredible well-known drama talents Gyabronka József and Ónodi Eszter.

Yasya’s hunger for new inspiration and artistic experience resulted in a move to Ireland in 2014. “Dublin charmed my heart very quickly with it’s incredible amount of music talent and gorgeous countryside.” Here Yasya got passionately involved in the Dublin music scene and became a lead singer/co-writer in the original rock band ‘Drive By Eden’. Two years of great gigs followed at authentic blues and rock venues such as Arthurs, Whelans and even Vantastival.

Yasya met current collaborator Cian Boylan (one of Ireland’s leading pianists, arrangers, and composers) when she attended a masterclass at Camden Studios with Carla Marie Williams (a British songwriter and singer, who has written for Beyoncé and Britney Spears).

Yasya’s love of the heartbreaking records of Johnny Cash and intense versatile performances by PJ Harvey originally inspired her to write songs. She feels like she has found a spiritual connection to Ireland and here got closer to her own authentic sound. Her new single ‘Clean Love’ is an intriguing, seductive, groovy, melancholic pop song with blue-eyed soul and a dash of hammond. “When I wrote ‘Clean Love’ I felt like I found my musical direction and being able to finish this song with Cian Boylan made me feel like I had finally found my sound too.” The EP is a fusion of experimental pop genres. The other two songs ‘Maybe It’s Me’ and ‘Centuries’ are quite different in style: ‘Maybe It’s Me’ has an upbeat sound, soul, rhythm and blues vibe with offbeat brass sections (think Aretha Franklin, Wilson Pickett) while ‘Centuries’ has a dramatic feel, almost Kate Bush theatrical vibe to it.

Yasya has just started her diploma in songwriting at BIMM Dublin and is feeling very excited about the release of her EP ‘Clean Love’ which will be available on all digital platforms on 30th October 2020.

Lemonade Marinade New Single ‘Brilliant’ Released Friday November 6th

Lemonade Marinade are back with their third single during these uncertain times for the Irish mental health charity Pieta. Following on from their acclaimed singles ‘Good to See (That Some Things Still Shine So Bright)’ and ‘Venus and Me’, the Irish lockdown band release the joyous indie pop song ‘Brilliant’ on Friday November 6th, 2020.

All the songs relate lyrically to the chosen charity and relay a message of encouragement and hope, with the risk of suicide spiralling since covid (especially in young men). ‘Brilliant’ offers lyrically an alternative to the darkness they feel with love and a wonderful future within their grasp.

With this new single Lemonade Marinade hope in some small way to help raise funds and ensure Pieta can continue their vital work.

‘Brilliant’ was written by songwriter and producer David Dee Moore. Vocals on this track come from legendary Nashville singer and Co. Down based Cathryn Craig (Righteous Brothers, Chet Atkins)

The slick accompaniment comes from a band handpicked by David Dee Moore with years of musical experience and creativity. These include Nick Scott (Gilbert O’Sullivan, Mary Black) on bass,, Colin and Janet Henry (Nancy Griffiths, Charlie McGettigan) on dobro and vocals respectively, Fintan Hanley (Vickers Vimy) on mandolin, Brian McAteer (Phil Coulter, Alisdair Frazer) on strings, Brian Willoughby (Strawbs, Mary Hopkin) on nylon guitar and project producer, arranger David Dee Moore (Liam Clancy, Juliet Turner, Brian Kennedy) on guitars and keyboards.

The track was mixed by Grammy nominees Chris O’Brien and Graham Murphy at The Production Suite Dublin and mastered by Richard Dowling at Wav Mastering Limerick.

Eoghan Ó Ceannabháin and Ultan O’Brien Release New Single and Video ‘Cúirt Bhaile Nua’

Dublin-based with Clare and Connemara connections, Eoghan Ó Ceannabháin and Ultan O’Brien have been playing together for many years in bands, including Skipper’s Alley. Their involvement with Manx singer Ruth Keggin and with the international Gaelic project ‘Aon Teanga (One Tongue)’ took them to Highland Scotland, where they recorded their debut album at Watercolour Music in Lochaber.

The human voice and the fiddle are often thought of as musical cousins. ‘Solas an Lae’ (The Light of the Day), Eoghan and Ultan’s debut offering, will be a compelling exploration of that relationship, creating a unique dialogue that blends raw, rugged earth with the ethereal otherworld. It is due for release Thursday 5th November, via the Scottish label Watercolour Music.

In ‘Solas an Lae’, bouncing songs and strings off one another, Eoghan and Ultan have created a duo album that emerges viscerally from the sean-nós roots of upbringing to blossom into two of the most articulate Irish musical voices on the scene today.

The first single from the album, ‘Cúirt Bhaile Nua’, is out now. It is a classic song of love and heartbreak from Mayo, Ireland, from the singing of Treasa Ní Mhiolláin. The track is accompanied by a night-time video, filmed outside at Watercolour Music’s studios, on the shores of Loch Linnhe within sight of the highest mountain in the British Isles, Ben Nevis. Nick Turner produced an eerily elemental video which features the duo singing and playing in firelight, and an almost sacrificial scene of a harmonium up in flames. Instruments may have been harmed in the making of this film.

‘Cúirt Bhaile Nua’ is released on Watercolour Music on October 29th 2020.

Inhaler Release Video for New Single ‘When It Breaks’

Following the release of their new single earlier this month, Dublin-quartet Inhaler have shared the trippy video for their anthemic track ‘When It Breaks‘. The video was once again directed by former Jesus & Mary Chain bassist Douglas Hart (Paul Weller, The Horrors, My Bloody Valentine) and Antony Genn. A searing indie-rock anthem, ‘When It Breaks’ was recorded over the summer and its lyrical themes chime with the unease and disquiet of the world in 2020.

Speaking about how ‘When It Breaks’ came together, the band said: “We wrote ‘When It Breaks’ in the last couple of months. We were floating around the instrumental demo, it was dark but also pretty hopeful sounding. When we went back to the studio over the summer and really got to put our heads together again, we felt like we had to write something about what was going on and how we felt about it. Coming off tour into lockdown was a huge adjustment for us after we had just got used to life on the tour. At first, it was a welcome break but pretty soon we were dying to get back to any festival or any gig where we could get our fix! The lyrics and the music communicate the anxiousness of how we were all feeling and still are now a couple months later. It’s our interpretation of this strange and imperfect world we’ve come to live in. Things are gonna change and we are gonna be there when they do.”

Inhaler are Elijah Hewson, Robert Keating, Ryan McMahon and Josh Jenkinson. The four-piece formed whilst still at school in Dublin, bonding over a love of Joy Division, The Stone Roses, The Strokes, Depeche Mode, Interpol, The Cure and more. They have made amassed a diehard fanbase despite only releasing a handful of singles, each displaying the band’s knack of intricate songcraft and sonic grandeur. Their tracks have been streamed over 35 million times globally. They sold over 10,000 tickets on their last tour and played to sold-out crowds across the UK and Europe. Inhaler recently completed work on their highly-anticipated debut album, expected for release early next year.

‘We Found Prester John’ Out Now

The Legendary Prester John is back! Seven years in the making and we’ve finally found Prester John but what’s seven years when you’ve already waited 875? October 23rd, 2020 saw the release of ‘We Found Prester John’.

Drawing on everything from medieval history to the exploration of space for its inspiration, ‘We Found Prester John’ is an album about trauma, recovery and hope against the odds that owes its musical influences to everything from Bowie to Department of Eagles, Neil Young to Al Green and Man Man to Holst. Beginning as a full-band rock album and ending as an orchestrated strings piece, Prester John hopes to have created music that links genres rather than comfortably fitting into them.

‘We Found Prester John’ features a number of Irish musicians from various musical backgrounds including Bazz O’Reilly and Aidan Mc Kelvey (The Gandhis), Caimin Gilmore (Sun Collective), Jethro Pickett, Aaron Mc Grattan (Strike Action/Disco Participation Matrix) and Leigh Duncan.

The album release is accompanied by a new video from Ursula Woods for the album’s third track ‘A Sky Apart’. Though it was filmed before the pandemic, the themes of recovery and hope in the face of the relentless march of time ring especially true.
