IMRO Showcase – Music Cork

IMRO are delighted to announce details of their Music Cork Showcase, set to take place in Crane Lane on Thursday 26^th April. On the night fans can see some of the best up and coming Irish music in the form of LAOISE, 1000 Beasts, Siights and DAY_S. Entry to the showcase are free, based on a first come first served policy with doors opening at 7.30pm.

LAOISE is an electro-pop artist hailing from Galway, her music incorporates elements of synth, soul and alternative pop. Taking her cues from the silky production of acts like NAO, Melanie Martinez and Skott but also deeply inspired by household names such as Kate Bush and David Bowie, LAOISE has now crafted her skill to become a successful artist in her own right. RTÉ 2FM Radio have selected her a ‘Rising Artist of 2018’, her track ‘Rich’ was featured on RTEOne’s ‘Striking Out’ and she’s been praised by a multitude of tastemakers in the UK.

1000 Beasts is Cian Sweeney, a well-established Irish musician, pianist and producer who has worked with many household names in the Irish music industry including Bressie, Una Healy, Damian McGinty, Declan O’Rourke, Moya Brennan, the RTE Concert Orchestra and Bryan Adams. Inspired by all the talent that surrounded him in his professional career, it wasn’t long before Cian conceived the idea of 1000 Beasts, a project where he could collaborate and write electro-pop with this talent; the name itself pays homage to these “beasts”. Despite only releasing his debut single during the summer of 2017, 1000 Beasts is already receiving consistent national and regional airplay from stations across Ireland.

SIIGHTS are a duo made up of Mia Fitz an established Songwriter/Producer/Multi-Instrumentalist/Vocalist from Ireland & Toni Etherson, an acclaimed Songwriter/Vocalist/Musician from Scotland. Having first met in 2016 after Mia had come off a world tour playing with Hozier, the pair initially came together as songwriters – spending their time locked away in a studio in the Hollywood Hills writing songs for some of the biggest names in music. With the first tracks they wrote quickly being signed & shown massive support from Radio internationally including some major tastemakers like Felix Jahen, Sam Feldt & Greg James (BBCRadio1) to name a few. The pair have already made a big impression with their first releases as SIIGHTS, with the first track they shared going viral on a video online, amassing over 18 million views.

DAY_S is a 22-year-old singer-songwriter and Dublin native who brings to the table his signature blend of expertly crafted piano lines, soulful vocals and solemn but unapologetic lyrics. A laid-back guy and a dedicated performer, he has always endeavoured to keep his material as fresh and unique as possible “For me, I always approach it as just me and the piano and that’s it. Whatever comes out comes out.” DAY_S has just under 1.5 Million streams on his debut release ‘Last Night’. He has clocked up 32k hours of streaming in 61 countries amassing 388k fans. DAY_S has provided support for Dagny, Soulé and Jafaris, with an upcoming tour supporting Irish international act, All Tvvins on their European Tour in March.

IMRO is a national organisation that administers the performing right in copyright music in Ireland on behalf of its members (songwriters, composers and music publishers) and on behalf of members of the international overseas societies that are affiliated to it. Music users such as broadcasters, venues and businesses must pay for their use of copyright music by way of a blanket licence fee. IMRO’s Mission is to protect, promote and develop the collection and distribution of music royalties; foster music creation and promote the value of music to the creative, cultural and business communities in Ireland.
