Midlands Busking Festival

The 2018 Midlands Busking Festival is taking place in Edgeworthstown on Saturday, 30th June 2018.
The first Busking Competition was organised as part of the Co. Fleadh in 2014 by the late Sean Callaghan, R.I.P., and it has grown from strength to strength over the past 4 years into a very successful festival of music, song and dance, attracting acts from all over Ireland and the U.K. The aim of the Festival is to attract business to this small town and to raise awareness of the heritage of the town and its musical talents and boost tourism in Co. Longford. Thanks to sponsorship by local businesses in 2017, over €1,500 was paid out in prize money.
This year the prizes are as follows:-
Senior Competition Prizes total €1,000 (Sponsored by IMRO) plus full day recording time in Abbeylane Recording Studio Drogheda.
Junior Competition Prizes total €500 plus half day recording time in Abbeylane Recording Studio Drogheda. (Sponsored by Local Businesses)
Winners from both competitions will also get a chance to perform in The Sea Food Rocks Festival in Clogherhead Co. Louth on the 14th and 15th of July.
All genres of music welcome. Independent Judges are from varied backgrounds in the music industry.
Junior Competition (aged under 16 yrs) starts at 3pm and Senior competition (16 yrs and over) at 5pm. The top 5 acts will be asked to play on the Gig Rig at approximately 6pm, where the winning act will be selected and announced.
