Music Cork 2018

€110

Returning for its second year to Leeside, Music Cork once again welcomes a host of music industry professionals to the city for a three-day event comprising insightful discussion, workshops, high calibre panels and some fantastic live music taking place throughout Cork venues. Delegates to Music Cork will have the opportunity to meet and network with music industry figures from Ireland and abroad, hear about and discuss industry trends and innovations, benefit from years of experience and knowledge while enjoying a relaxed three days around the vibrant steets of Cork.

Music Cork 2018 follows the inaugural event with another very strong contingent of speakers, with several A&R supremos set to speak during the event. Isaac Green (SVP A&R, Columbia Records), Sophia Margerison and Joseph Etchells (A&R, Virgin/EMI), who along with Tom Lewis (Director A&R, Decca Records) and Annette Donnelly (MD Sony Music Ireland) will share their experiences of signing artists and cutting record deals with some of the biggest labels in the world.

Other areas of the music business will be covered by a variety of speakers including Caroline Downey (Manager Hozier, Hudson Taylor), Ciro Romano (MD Neopolitan Music), Maria May (Senior Agent, CAA, UK), Brian Spollen (Promoter, MCD), Willie Kavanagh (Chairman IRMA), Adele Slater (Agent, Coda Agency), Sabrina Sheehan (MD Mission PR), Ann Harrison (Lawyer, Harrisons Entertainment Law) and musicians Sorcha Durham (Walking on Cars) and Ray Harman (Something Happens, RTE).

Publishing, licensing and management will be ably addressed by Ric Salmon (Director, ATC Management), Florian Schrödter (Senior A&R, BMG Rights Management), Michael Roe, (Artist & Label Manager, Faction), John McCallion (Music & Sync Consultant), Sean Donegan (Global Management Accountant, IMRO), Hamlet Sweeney (The Nucleus) and Rory McPartland (Planet of Sound Music). While from Irish music media Phil Taggart (BBC NI) and Niall Byrne (Nialler9) will share their insights and advice.

Using The Clayton Hotel as the hub of Music Cork, the three day event will stretch out to other venues across the city where a Music Cork Pub Trail will take place alongside an Opening Night Showcase gig at Cork Opera House and a Music Cork Brunch taking place on the last afternoon. Cork’s easily navigated and welcoming city centre is the ideal backdrop for a few days industry networking and enjoying some of the best live music Ireland has to offer.

The Opening Night Showcase will feature Hermitage GreenThe StrypesStephanie Rainey and Fontaines DC. Tickets for this all-ages show are open to the general public (at €15) and will be available from Cork Opera House on Friday March 16. Under 18s must be accompanied by an adult.

We’re looking forward to hosting new speakers and delegates to Music Cork this April and also to welcoming back those that were here for our first event in 2017,” said one of Music Cork organisers, Shane Dunne. “We’d also like to extend an invitation to musicans and students of music from all over Ireland and offer them the opportunity to learn some valuable knowledge about the business side of our industry.”
