Music Minds Festival

January 17, 2020 - January 19, 2020

Music Minds is a three-day multi-genre festival made up of workshops, debates, films, live performances and guest speakers for those interested in the advancing music industry, its lineage, and its rapidly changing vista through technology.

In 2020, its second year, the emphasis is on connecting different fields of live creative arts. A full day Resolume Software Workshop taught by A-Li-ce, a visual mapping artist from Berlin, will connect with a full day Ableton live workshop delivered by Cork producer Bantum to produce a joint Resolume and Ableton live performance workshop performance. London based producer Leo Abrahams (Brian Eno, Jon Hopkins, David Holmes) will deliver a music production masterclass. The minefield of audio mastering will be tackled by some of Ireland’s top mastering engineers and Ireland’s first patching circle will be hosted by University of Limerick’s Dr Kerry Hagan. Music panels will feature live music and fiery debate while taking on the challenging topics of gender imbalance in the music industry and how artists, promoters and festivals can strive to be more sustainable. As our cities become more expensive for artists to live in, panellists will share thoughts on promoting music from rural Ireland. Mark Graham from the Irish Music Industry podcast will also present a panel discussion. There will be a special screening of photojournalist Seamus Murphy’s ‘A Dog Called Money’, the documentary of PJ Harvey’s unorthodox journey to her acclaimed album ‘The Hope Six Demolition Project’.
