Open Ear

Open Ear have announced the final artists to perform on Sherkin Island, West Cork, for the fourth annual edition of the festival, taking place across the June Bank Holiday Weekend, Thursday 30th May to Sunday 2nd June.

This one-of-a-kind festival experience gives a platform to Irish artists involved in the experimental and electronic music scene, in the stunning surrounds of Sherkin, an island measuring 3 miles long and 1.5 miles wide off the coast of West Cork. With it’s most expansive and diverse line-up to date, featuring over 50 performances, the festival have released the final names on the bill for this year’s showcase, which include: J Colleran, S>>D, Zeropunkt, Ocean Floor, 101 Beats Per Minute, Donal Dineen, Ordnance Survey, SYN, Collision Objects, Gadget and the Cloud, Son Zept, Odd Ned, Michael Prime, Kate Butler, Bodycam, BB84, Cáit, Bobofunk, Dylan Kerr, Aonghus McEvoy & School Tour, Safetyboy, Tousist, Lolz, Dublin Digital Radio, Ambisonics Ireland.

They’ll be joining previous announced names: Garies (New Jackson and Lumigraph), Radie Peat, Maria Somerville, Patrick Kelleher & His Cold Dead Hands, Aaron Dilloway & Vicky Langan, Woven Skull, Jennifer Walshe, Club Comfort, Fran Hartnett, T-Woc, Áine O’Dwyer, Aoife O’Neill, Static., Eliza, Prun, Ebauche, Bloom, Belacque, SIAS, Kenny Hanlon, The Digital Druids and Dabbledoo Feat. As well as the busy music programme, festival attendees will also have the option of taking part in extra-curricular activities around the island, with details to be announced over the coming weeks.

Working closely with the Sherkin Island community, these gigs and activities will be dotted in various locations across the island, with pop-up appearances at: St Mona’s Church, Horseshoe Bay Quarry, Sherkin Community Hall, the main base on the land of Sherkin North Shore, The Jolly Roger Bar, and scenic spots along the way.

‘Sea view’ camping, inclusive with the festival ticket, includes transport of luggage across the island, showers, toilets, and drinking water. Tier 1,2, 3 and 4 tickets are now sold out, and a limited number of Tier 5 tickets are on sale now, priced at €170. This year Open Ear are partnering with the Sherkin House hotel on the island to offer a package deal of festival ticket and hotel room for the weekend, or festival go-ers also have the option of high-end bell tents that attendees can rent via the Open Ear ticketing platform.
