Ahead of their sold out shows at Dublin’s 3Arena, IMRO took the opportunity to present Picture This with IMRO Awards in recognition of their number one self-titled debut album.
The IMRO Number 1 Award was introduced to acknowledge IMRO members who reach number 1 in the album charts here in Ireland or overseas.
Released at the end of August, the self-titled debut from the Athy natives, stormed into the charts at #1 with the highest charting entry for a debut artist this year. Already certified platinum, the album hasn’t left the Top Five since its release 11 weeks ago. The band have just come off the back of a sold out UK and Ireland tour, including two dates at the 3Arena – which placed their album back to the top of the iTunes charts!
It all began when Jimmy Rainsford [drums] and Ryan Hennessey [vocals, guitar] released their flagship song “Take My Hand.” Working in Jimmy’s D.I.Y. studio, they tracked the breezy “summer romance tune,” “Take My Hand,” and shot a befittingly charming and romantic music video. Before they knew it, the track had gone international with over 4 million cumulative plays.
The boys crossed the pond to record what would become their debut with none other than GRAMMY Award-nominated producer Jacquire King (Kings Of Leon, Of Monsters and Men) at the world-renowned Blackbird Studios in Nashville. Within three weeks, they left the studio with their now chart topping, platinum selling debut. From the singles “Never Change” and “Addicted To You” to the energetic “95” and poetic finale “Saviour,” the duo carry an undeniable energy throughout reflective of their humble outlook.
