September 17, 2014

Dublin’s iconic the academyAcademy venue is set to re-open under new management following an extensive renovation programme. The New Academy will be a contemporary performance space that draws influence from the Victorian music hall style. It will equally lend itself to the live music offering the venue is widely regarded for, and a new type of club night to be launched in the coming months.

The new operators aim to improve the customer experience in the venue, with all elements of the refurbishment being geared towards enhanced live music & club events.

The refurbishment will also include all new high specification state of the art lighting and upgraded sound, with a focus on showcasing world class musical talent in the best possible light.

The first phase of The New Academy begins on Friday September 19th, with a guest appearance from Detroit house DJ Seth Troxler.

The new operators are the team behind Belfast’s historic Limelight venues, Belfast’s annual Belsonic contemporary music festival, and Shine, one of the UK’s longest running underground dance music brands.

The Academy is synonymous with live & club events in Dublin, having hosted acts including Prince, David Bowie, Mumford & Sons, David Guetta, The Script & Macklemore. Upcoming events include Royal Blood, Vance Joy & Mastodon.
