The National Concert Hall has just announced Irish composers Alex Dowling (from Co. Dublin) and Amanda Ferry (from Co. Offaly) as joint winners of the Jerome Hynes Young Composers’ Competition 2013.
As well as sharing a cash prize of €2,500.00, each composer will have a new composition for chamber ensemble premièred by the ConTempo Quartet and Paul Roe (clarinet) on Friday 7th March at 6pm as part of the New Music Dublin Festival at the National Concert Hall.

We are delighted to be announcing not one, but two winners of this competition, which is testament to the talent and standard of composition amongst this year’s entrants. Endorsing and encouraging young composers is an important part of the remit of the National Concert Hall. This competition offers an important platform for aspiring composers throughout Ireland.’
This year’s award was judged anonymously by clarinettist Paul Roe and composer Donnacha Dennehy, curator of this year’s New Music Dublin festival.
