Independent Irish Rockers Mother Mooch Unveil Cinematic Hive Mind Video

Independent Irish rockers Mother Mooch have unveiled their darkly cinematic Hive Mind Official Video, taken from their 2015 debut album Nocturnes. Accentuated by the stunning autumnal landscape of Donadea Forest, the video explores concepts of conformity and indoctrination; themes consistent with the song’s dark tone and lyrics. Filmed on location in Donadea Forest Park, Kildare, Ireland by director Shannon Moncrief and cinematographer Philip Blake, and produced by Mother Mooch and Shannon Moncrief. Speaking about the video, lead singer and lyricist Chloë Ní Dhúada said “We’re extremely grateful for all the hard work everyone put into making this beautiful piece of atmospheric art, the end result is even better than we could have hoped for.”

“Dublin heavy-psych warriors Mother Mooch have been kicking up dust for a few years now, perfecting a desert blues that oozes ominously from the speakers. From the soulful vocals of singer Chloë, to the classic hard rock riffing, shoegaze-y soundscapes and thundering drumming – Mother Mooch create a massive racket that’s all their own.”
-Peter McNally, Hot Press Magazine (IRL): Introducing Mother Mooch, Nov 30th 2015

Mother Mooch are a Heavy Rock band from Dublin, Ireland who play a “weird and wonderful mix of Psych, Desert Rock, Blues, Grunge and Stoner Rock given a trippy modern makeover” (Steve Howe – Oultaws of the Sun, UK). After spending several years honing their lineup, sound and live show, Mother Mooch shifted gears in 2015 taking their first steps into Ireland’s festival scene with performances at Canalaphonic, KnockanStockan and Electric Picnic in addition to supporting Kyuss/QotSA legend Nick Oliveri for the second time and playing to an ever increasing audience at their self promoted Dublin shows. “Voodoo Lounge was still ringing from support band Mother Mooch, an appropriately chosen act with a clear Black Sabbath and Kyuss influence on display, who drenched the venue in doom laden riffs and monumental feedback… wonderfully noisy” (Bernard O’Rourke – GoldenPlec, IRL).

Their debut EP “Preludes”, released in March 2015, began attracting fans from around the globe and brought them to the attention of national and international music media. Their fully self produced debut album “Nocturnes” was released on Friday 13th November 2015 and has received glowing reviews at home in Ireland and throughout the international heavy underground. Songs from the album have featured on radio stations, websites, blogs, podcasts and YouTube channels throughout Ireland, Europe and the US. “A full spectrum of heavy music – from psychedelia to doom to grunge – wrapped up in one beautiful package.” (Paul Rote – Doomed & Stoned, US).

“Shot in the mysterious forests of Kildare, Ireland, “Hive Mind” is a gem of a film”- Doomed & Stoned.com

Mother Mooch are set to release a vinyl edition of “Nocturnes” through independent German Psych/Stoner Rock label Krauted Mind Records in summer 2016, with Irish, UK and European shows later in the year in support of the album to follow appearances on the Irish summer festival circuit.

Shannon Moncrief is a writer, director and producer based between the US and Ireland. Her recent music video, “Make Out” by Honeychild was nominated for Best Music Video by Flagpole Music Magazine, The Sprockets Music Video Festival and the Dublin Underground Film Festival. Her short film “The Legend” has screened internationally and continues on the festival circuit.

Philip Blake is a young Irish cinematographer living in Dublin. He is a graduate of the National Film School of Ireland at IADT. He has worked on an array of projects in the U.K. including film, commercial, TV and documentary as well as shooting a number of Irish short films, including Kate Dolan’s “Little Doll” which recently had its world premier at the Berlinale Film Festival.
