For the last 6 years Enda has been rediscovering his Irish, writing songs and collaborating with others along the way. Original, melodic and powerful New Songs In Irish is a collection of the best of these songs, giving traditional acoustic sounds a modern twist. It features collaborations with Gabriel Rosenstock, Aoife Scott, Pearse McGloughlin and Aisling Kavanagh.

Enda has recently supported Rónán Ó Snodaigh in Whelan’s, performed with poets from the IMRAM festival including Gabriel Rosenstock and performed in India in poetic play called A Ghuthanna Binne Síoraí.  He has played at many festivals in Ireland, including Spirit of Folk, Electric Picnic, Life, Knockanstockan, Longitude, the Tai As festival in Lithuania and The Hyderabad Literary Fesival in India. He has supported John Spillane, Kíla and had collaborations with Colm Ó Snodaigh on the Arise and Go album made with Stephen James Smith.

“I’ve been writing songs in Irish for the last few years and getting some airplay on RTE Raidio Na Gaeltachta (mainly Rónán Beo@3) with them. I decided it was time I put together a collection of the Irish songs I’ve written in Amhráin Nua i nGaeilge. Being interested in co-writes through many IMRO songwriters weekends and workshops over the years, I wanted to get a few co-writes in Irish onto the album, and I think they are among the strongest on it. I’m delighted to have a song with the legendary Gabriel Rosenstock who wrote the words to Éireoidh Grian and to have Ag Ól Ag Ól Ag An Garbhóg, a collaboration with fellow Urchin Collective member Pearse McGloughlin on the album. The third co-write Do Mhuirnín Ó was written with Aisling Kavanagh and performed as a duet with Aoife Scott. The album was recorded mainly in my apartment. I produced and mixed it myself, and it was mastered in MSB Mastering.  I’m going to sell this album at gigs and through my website (via Bandcamp) initially. I hope it helps more people engage with Irish. It’s been a great songwriting journey to the other side of my brain!”
