Tune-Up Your Business Award is a new award designed to encourage Irish businesses to tap into the commercial benefits of providing music for their customers and employees.

Have you ever thought about offering music for your customers or staff members but were unsure of where to start?  Or perhaps you are looking to upgrade the music equipment that you are currently using? The IMRO Tune-Up Your Business Award could be for you.

The Irish Music Rights Organisation (IMRO), the organisation that represents over 10,000 songwriters, composers and music publishers is giving Irish businesses the opportunity to improve the music facilities in their premises.

There is a prize fund of €4,000 up for grabs, to spend exclusively on music equipment in your premises.

The Awards programme is open to those currently using music and also for businesses planning to introduce music into their premises in the near future.

“No matter what industry you´re in, everyone agrees that putting your customer at the heart of your business and providing good customer service is a top priority. Whether you operate a hotel, restaurant, bar, hairdressing salon or supermarket, part of this service is about providing customers with music to enhance their experience” – stated Victor Finn, Chief Executive, IMRO at the launch of the Awards today.

Businesses can enter simply by telling us how they would enhance and develop the music in their business if they won the prize fund by completing an online application form at:

There is a growing level of research to demonstrate the positive impact that music plays in commercial settings. A recent survey[1] found that 66% of employees surveyed believed that background music made them feel better and more motivated at work.  With improved motivation often comes greater productivity.  A similar study[2] found that 84% of shoppers like shops that play in-store music and of that percentage 23% claim they would be prepared to pay 5% more for goods if music was being played.
