Video Blue Unveils ‘What Have You Got’ Video
‘What Have You Got’ is the opening track to ‘Night Painting’ by Video Blue. It was recorded in Jim’s Hackney flat and SARM studios in Notting Hill.
Paul Campbell provides piano & synth contributions. The spoken-word piece is a collage of anxieties, fears and affirmations. The loaded imagery of the verse gives way to the mantra/refrain of ‘breathe easy’.
These anxieties are appropriated and anthropomorphized as a dinosaur who loses his balloons in film director Freddie Leyden’s companion video clip.
Video Blue is Dundalk-man Jim O’Donoghue Martin. Embracing ambient electronica, guitar-driven alt-pop & spoken-word, all of the music is recorded in his east London bedroom.
