The Clancy Brothers Songwriting Competition Open for Entries

Clancy Brothers songwriting logo NEWThe Clancy Brothers Songwriting Competition 2015 is now open for entries. With free entry and a prize fund in excess of €1,500, this is an open competition for new, original songs.

Following a successful first year, competition organisers are looking forward to hearing a wide range of music from across Ireland.

The competition is open to all musical genres and styles, and to all ages and nationalities. As long as it is a song, it is eligible for entry. Entries are accepted on CD or by email in MP3 format, so it couldn’t be easier to enter.

This is a songwriting competition with the songwriter in mind. Songs will be judged based on melody, composition, originality and lyrics. The quality of performance and production will not be considered.

The three finalists will perform their song at a concert on Sunday May 31st in the Nano Nagle Chapel, Carrick on Suir, during the Clancy Brothers Festival of Music and Art 2015 as part of a fifteen minute set. The winner will be announced at the end of the concert.

With cash prizes of €500 for the winner and €200 for each of the runners up sponsored by the Clancy Brothers Festival of Music and Art and IMRO, no one will leave empty handed. The winner also receives a voucher for CD duplication from Duplication Ireland and all three will gain premium services from InMusik.co.

With further support from IMRO (Irish Music Rights Organisation), Music Matters and the Clancy Brothers Festival, this songwriting competition is set to grow.

Musicians by vocation and occupation, one of Delorentos’ best asset is the intuition with which they interact with one another. Those idiosyncrasies make this band what it is, firmly rooted in the unspoken ties that bind; collaboration, mutual respect, and the art of pushing things forward.

Delorentos released ‘Night Becomes Light’, the follow up album to the critically acclaimed ‘Little Sparks’, on October 10th this year on Delorecords/Universal Music Ireland. Night Becomes Light features the electrifying single ‘Show Me Love’.

Night Becomes Light is the fifth album from Delorentos, following their debut In Love With Detail, second album You Can Make Sound, the Meteor Choice Music Prize-winning Little Sparks, and limited edition acoustic record Unbroken, Untied.

They are currently being hailed as one of Ireland’s finest and most imaginative bands. As well as their recording success, Delorentos have always been a touring band, having played extensively in Ireland, as well as the UK, Europe and North America.

Success and ability come dropping slow, and Delorentos bottle it with increasing sophistication, safe in the knowledge that the long game, the slow burner, the incremental improvement, is how the greatest work is crafted. They have two goals: to be as good a band as they possibly can be, and to write the best songs they possibly can.

Emeraz.com and Z1 Music Announce Their 7th Songwriters Workshop

songwriting-camp-News---IMRO-new-logo---DublinEmeraz.com and Z1 Music will be hosting a songwriters workshop in association with IMRO at Windmill Lane Studios in Dublin on the 13th and 14th of July. The workshop will be run by noted songwriters/producers Tim Hawes and Obi Mhondera. The two have worked with acts such as The Spice Girls, Blue, Five and Sugababes in the past.

Participants in the workshop will be divided into groups of no more than three and will receive a project to complete. Each team will have its own recording space and engineer with which to work. In addition to this each person at the workshop will receive one to one mentoring from either Tim or Obi. The aim of the weekend is to expose budding songwriters to a professional setup and if a team is successful in their endeavours Z1 Music will look to have their song placed.

The cost of a place in the workshop is €399 (€299 for IMRO members). As this is a non-profit event, this fee is merely to cover the use of the top class Windmill Lane Studios.
