The FitzaFrenic – New EP

The FitzaFrenic, Ireland’s most exciting unsigned band, will launch their debut EP, modestly entitled “Self Indulgent Tacky Sh**e”, on Thursday 7th of April 2011 in the Button Factory, Temple Bar, Dublin 2. Featuring four exceptionally catchy new tracks, the EP is available now to download for FREE.

One of Ireland’s most promising musical talents, the FitzaFrenic have earned support spots with the likes of Republic of Loose, the Blizzards, Aslan and the Coronas, and have wowed crowds at sold out shows in top venues such as Whelans, the Village, Crawdaddy and the Button Factory, where they performed alongside international DJ Alex Guadino. The FitzaFrenic have even notched up an impromptu gig with the Commitments’ legend Phelim Gormley! Thom McDonnell, music producer at Windmill Lane has said: “The FitzaFrenic have the best of both worlds. Fun, catchy, danceable songs yet with fantastic musicianship to back it up.” With distinctive raspy vocals, driving saxophone melodies and an extremely unique and funkadelic feel to their music, this Dublin-based four-piece band have produced one of the most original sounds ever to come out of Ireland.

Since forming in 2008, the FitzaFrenic have clocked up a rake of supporters, including Olympic boxer Kenny Egan, as well as fellow Clondalkin man Brian Ormond and his model fiancé Pippa O’Connor. In 2010, they appeared live on TG4’s Pop 4, 98FM and Spin 103.8. What makes the FitzaFrenic so unique is their raw musical talent: all four members are accomplished multi-instrumentalists and this is reflected in every track on their debut EP. Having spent the last three and a half years gigging, song writing and recording in the studio, the FitzaFrenic are now ready to share their highly anticipated debut EP with the world! Seven Days and Heroes in Hiding will play support on the night. Special guests to be announced. Tickets €7 including booking fee available from www.tickets.ie. Doors from 7.30pm. Tickets for Dublin are priced €11.80 inclusive of booking fee are on sale this Friday at 9am from Ticketmaster outlets nationwide and online at www.ticketmaster.ie.

Described as an “Irish music-based comedy”, the movie is written by Ian Le Frenais and Dick Clement the screenwriters of “The Commitments” and “Almost Famous” and is directed by Nick Hamm (The Hole).
