Patricia Lalor to Release ‘Anymore’ This Friday

Since picking up the guitar and ukulele at the age of 11, Patricia Lalor, now 13, is emerging as possibly the most unique and exciting singer and songwriter creating music in Ireland today. Her jazz infused, indie-nostalgia-pop betrays a love of music that is ageless and timeless, drawing inspiration as much from the first half of the 20th century as the second.

Patricia’s talent has not gone unnoticed. Upon hearing her stunning cover of Hozier’s ‘Cherry Wine’, the man himself retweeted “Hands down one of the best covers I’ve ever seen. Maith thú!”. In one week during February 2019 Patricia’s cover of Mac DeMarco’s ‘My Kind of Woman’ was viewed over 100,000 times on YouTube.

Now releasing her new single ‘Anymore’, recorded with Beardfire Music Dublin, produced by David Virgin, Rohan Healy, Al Quiff and Patricia, she solidifies her place among the finest songwriters of our age.

Who knows what Patricia is a capable of achieving with her craft in the coming years, but those who have already fallen in love with her music can’t wait to see, and will enjoy every moment of the journey with her.

Damsel Share ‘Head Hums’

Damsel have just released their latest single ‘Head Hums’ today, 1st April.

Damsel is the musical moniker of Luke O’Neill. Inspired by everything from Leonard Cohen and Scott Walker, to T Rex and Dolly Parton, Damsel crafts catchy, country-tinged, indie rock that deals with themes of love and separation, detachment and escapist fantasy.  Damsel formed while Luke was still at school. Forming a band with friends, they got their “big break” when the caretaker saw them performing and booked them to play at a bar where he hosted a local karaoke night!

They have since performed in some of Ireland’s most prestigious music venues, and festivals such as Electric Picnic, Body & Soul, and It Takes A Village.

‘Head Hums’ was written and recorded by Luke in a small, stuffy room at the height of 2018’s summer heatwave.

Odd Morris Release Debut Single

Odd Morris have just released ‘What Might Be’ across all platforms on via Place Records. The music video premiered on Nialler9 on March 27th, and the track was recorded by James Darkin at Hellfire studios.

Dublin’s Odd Morris earned a reputable name within the vibrant scene in Ireland after their inaugural year of touring in 2018. Characteristic of the Dublin scene, their sound is influenced by alternative rock, post-punk and electronic music.

The band have just released their debut single ‘What Might Be’ via Place Records and are set to release more music later this year. In recent months the band have supported bands such as Fontaines DC, and The Murder Capital. They are set to play with Just Mustard at Eastbound festival in Dublin on May 12th.

Gritty and rough around the edges, and that’s where its appeal lies. A cacophony of guitar tones don’t blend but thrash against each other under pummeling drums and strong vocals. It’s a hypnotic concoction.” Nialler9.

Moylan Releases ‘Hopelessly Devoted’

Moylan is a singer-songwriter from Waterford, Ireland. Her most recent releases ‘On The Right Side’ and ‘Naïve’ give us a taste of Moylan as an ethereal story teller, using her gentle vocals to guide us to the subtle messages in her songs.  Now she presents us with a fresh, fun take on an old classic.

Moylan’s version of Grease’s ‘Hopelessly Devoted’ is an electronic bop, teeming with zesty vibes to bring us into the summer months. Speaking on the background of the song Moylan says, “I wanted to experiment with a new genre. I love electronic music and I love to dance, but I just haven’t gotten there with my song writing yet. I’ve been singing my own jazzy version on ‘Hopelessly Devoted’ at gigs for years and I thought it would be a fun one to play around with. I’m delighted with the results. I am just finding my feet as a recording artist, but I feel this is a step in the right direction and I am very excited for the future.”

This track was recorded and produced by Adam Redmond of Flaked Studios.

Keywest Release Video for Brand New Single

Keywest have released the brand new video for their new single ‘Somebody To Love’, which is out now. The single is the first to be released off their upcoming Marshall Records debut album ‘Ordinary Superhero’.

In a move that will build on their massive success to date, Keywest signed a worldwide recording deal with internationally renowned label Marshall Records in November 2018, showcasing their talents at the BBC Introducing live event in London and performing at the RTE 2FM Xmas Ball at the 3Arena in Dublin. Marshall is more than just an amp manufacturing brand. Marshall is a music brand. Jim Marshall’s passion for music was the driver for all that he achieved. This same motivation is at the heart of Marshall Records. The label supports musicians to create, record, produce and promote their music.

Keywest will release their Marshall Records debut album ‘Ordinary Superhero’ in 2019 and are currently on a nine-country tour across Europe this March and April 2019. ‘Ordinary Superhero’ has been mixed and mastered at the famous Abbey Road Studios in London by Paul Pritchard and Christian Wright respectively.

The band’s debut album ‘The Message’ entered the top 20 in Ireland, second album ‘Joyland’ went to Number 1 in Ireland in 2015, and third album ‘True North’ went to Number 3 in Ireland and they had a string of radio hits such as ‘Carousel’, ‘This Is Heartbreak’, ‘This Summer’, ‘Something Beautiful’ and ‘Cold Hands’. The band sold out shows across Ireland, including three Dublin sell out shows at The Olympia Theatre, The Academy and Whelans, all within 10 months. In addition to sold out shows the band have been seen at festivals like British Summer Time, Country 2 Country and Country Music Week in London and Longitude and Electric Picnic festivals in Ireland.

Keywest are widely known for their explosive live performances. The four-piece Dublin based band comprises of Kav, Glover, Jimi and Harry. The band formed after being introduced during a trip to Los Angeles where they became friends. ‘Somebody To Love’ the first single taken from Keywest’s upcoming  Marshall Records debut ‘Ordinary Superhero’ is out now, with the album to follow in 2019. Keywest are currently embarking on their nine-country tour across Europe in March 2019.

LAOISE Shares New EP ‘Mad’

Irish pop artist LAOISE returns with her eagerly anticipated new EP, ‘Mad’. Incorporating elements of synth and alternative pop, these four songs co-written and co-produced by Seán Behan and Richey McCourt, embody everything LAOISE’s audience have come to love and more. Featuring the critically acclaimed single ‘Again’, the four-track EP is her most honest and sincere work yet, making it an ambitious next step for LAOISE.

With three new buoyant songs to revel in, the EP’s lead single ‘Mad’ showcases a more audacious side to the 22-year-old songwriter from Galway. The quirky track depicts the story of that moment in life when you decide to no longer accept a situation which you’re unhappy with; it’s that moment of self-awareness where you let your gut instinct cut through, and let your voice be heard. LAOISE drew on past experiences of negative relationships- personal and professional – to present the fun but fierce lyric. Sonically, ‘Mad’ is a bed of pop hooks and lush backing vocals balanced with industrial synths sweeping throughout and a defiant build that centres on the song’s direct, simple but candid line: “And now I’m getting Mad.”

Speaking on the EP, LAOISE says, “For me, this EP represents a destination I’ve spent some time trying to reach as a writer and a performer. When I’m writing songs, I like to lay everything out there. I indulge in the fact that I write pop songs because I’ve grown up loving them for that reason – they’re honest, direct and straight-from-the-shoulder. I guess I’m a person who is all about moving forward and not dwelling on the past, but in writing these songs I tapped into memories and experiences that I hadn’t fully explored when I was younger, and they still speak to me now. Whenever I feel sad or angry or happy, I like to dance and sing it off, and sometimes that could mean crying and dancing at the same time, but I think that’s why I feel so connected to music; it compels your whole body to feel something. A pop song that’s delivered with truth and with conviction will always connect more with me, and that’s what I’ve tried to create with each song on the EP, be it anger, defiance, heartbreak or love – a certain part of me is in each song. I’ve grown into a person who now feels that I can say what I need to in the moment, whereas in the past I was probably more afraid to be heard. Music has allowed me to filter the urgency of those thoughts into something useful and creative, and that’s this EP.”

LAOISE (pronounced Lee-sha) has built a growing listenership for her dreamy, ambitious and frank pop songs about relationships and heartbreak, often with darker, moodier, more introspective lyrics and juxtaposed with upbeat electro and synth production. LAOISE records, produces and releases her music completely independently. She’s become known for presenting her own brand of bold, glittering, gutsy electro-pop – paving the way for Irish-born pop music.

Taking her cues from the silky production of acts like Tove Styrke, Troye Sivan and MØ, LAOISE incorporates elements of synth, indie and alternative pop into her music. She is also is deeply inspired by household names like Kate Bush and David Bowie, as well as the different musical personas of Taylor Swift.
