Davie Furey Announces New Single Featuring Clare Sands

Davie Furey releases his new single feat. Clare Sands, ‘The Final Frontier’ on 17th April.

Two definitions of The Final Frontier:

“a part of a country, region, etc. that is the last to be settled, explored, or developed.

the extreme limit of understanding or achievement in a particular area.”

Although this song wasn’t written with these times in mind, it is somewhat eerily apt.  During this lockdown it is possible to be exploring, developing, understanding and achieving in ways we may have not thought possible in our “normal” lives.  This song, ‘The Final Frontier’, deals with new beginnings, facing fears and getting out of our comfort zones.

Like many other musicians and artists, my gigs have been cancelled (Tours of Germany, US and Irish shows) so I do appreciate your support and thank you for listening to my music.  I am very aware it is a tough time for a lot of radio stations and publications too, and if I can help in any way please ask.  However, we will get through this together, and I look forward to seeing you soon.  Stay safe, stay healthy and mind each other.”  Davie

Fureys’ debut album ‘Easy Come Easy Go’ was very well received in audiences across the country having been showcased by RTÉ, BBC Radio both home and abroad, resulting in a worldwide publishing deal with Universal Music.  Nominated three years in a row by The Pure M Awards, for Best Newcomer, Best Male Artist and Best Irish Solo Act. Davie’s knack for telling a story through song and his ability to engage a crowd have resulted in many sold out shows on his previous tours.

Hannah Kathleen Releases ‘Little Miss Sunshine’

Hannah Kathleen is a trailblazing 22 year old singer/songwriter and entrepreneur. The Dublin beauty is an artist whose very essence is based on a dynamic spark of creativity that permeates every area of her life, but seldom does it shine brighter than when she’s on stage or in studio doing what she loves. ‘Little Miss Sunshine’, Hannah’s new single is now available to stream worldwide across all digital platforms.

Citing musical influences such as Whitney, Mariah, Ariana and Christina, Hannah’s voice is a fusion of vocal runs, that rise and soar with perfect, lush harmony-laden Pop sensibilities akin to the 90’s and indeed 00’s Pop divas.

Tiz McNamara Releases ‘April Fool’ A Dedication to His Late Brother and Father

Today, Cork singer-songwriter Tiz McNamara, releases a deeply personal single ‘April Fool’, dedicated to his brother and father, who tragically passed away on this day in 1991.

Tiz says: “This song is written about my brother and dad who both drowned when I was 10 months old while sailing. I release a new track on April 1st each year as it’s their anniversary and it helps make a pretty tough time of year into a more productive one. These songs are extremely personal and close to the bone, but for me that has always been what making music was all about. It’s about telling stories and hopefully giving comfort to others.

I’ve held on to this song for a couple of years, but was waiting for the right producer to do it justice. I recorded it in a cabin at Lake Echo in Nova Scotia, Canada, produced by Dan Ledwell, and it features some beautifully delicate backing vocals from Breagh MacKinnon. I hope you like it.”

Tiz McNamara is an Irish singer songwriter and drummer, currently based in Toronto, Canada, who has racked up over 9.5 Million streams on Spotify with his independent releases.

Tiz’s songs have featured on UK TV shows Hollyoaks and Emmerdale, as well as gaining support from some of the industry’s heavy weights including BBC Radio 2, Amazing Radio and NME. Tiz has toured with BRITS ‘Critics Choice Winner’ James Bay, and has sung alongside one of his musical heroes Sir Paul McCartney, as well as Robbie Williams, and Shane McGowan under the name ‘The Justice Collective’.

Tiz was due to release his debut EP today, but is now postponed until May 1st. Tiz’s North American and European tour, including Irish dates, have also been postponed until after the Covid-19 crisis.

Pinhole to Release ‘Little Hibernia’

Cork band Pinhole have already piqued a lot of interest in their unreleased debut album ‘Come Curious’ with the release of ‘Better Than One’ in February – a political song that called on public representatives to do more.

On April 3rd, with the release of ‘Little Hibernia’, Pinhole explores themes of Irishness and resilience in the face of adversity.

The song is an appeal for us to look at ourselves and be proud of our collective actions.

‘A little Hibernia / a little Hibernia / it’s in you.’

We all have power over where we place our attention individually and, ultimately, this makes us strong collectively. This song is an appeal for us to look at ourselves and see how strong we are; how compassionate we are; and how we should all be proud and honour ourselves,” says lyricist Ciara O’Flynn. “It seems particularly relevant at the moment.”

The song, as the title might suggest, has its roots in an Ireland of days gone by.

‘Is a silent tongue / a broken harp / all we’ll bequeath?’

This line relates to the infamous story about how, after the Battle of Kinsale in 1602, Queen Elizabeth infamously issued an order to hang the harpers, wherever found, and burn their instruments,” says Ciara, who is also an historical building consultant and has studied folklore.  “This was to prevent the Irish bards and harpists spreading news – they had huge power as a collective and this was her way of trying to break that.”

With influences from Stump to Charles Mingus, Pinhole have been likened to everyone from Julie Feeney to Fiona Apple to Portishead. From the most delicate melodies to raw mayhem, they deliver the musical equivalent of a dark fairytale.

The band, from Cork and Dublin, have built a strong reputation  on the back of their theatrical, energetic live shows. The fact that they booked Other Voices, had their music featured in the RTÉ television series ‘Striking Out’ and have received glowing critical reviews all on the strength of these live shows and just one previously-released single speaks volumes.
