IMRO First Cuts – Rob Burch, Josh Gray and Gemma Bradley

Rob Burch, Josh Gray and Gemma Bradley have just been announced to perform at the next IMRO First Cuts Showcase at Abner Brown’s. The May edition of the monthly showcase will take place on Wednesday May 23rd at 8.00pm. Admission is FREE but due to limited capacity tickets are limited to two per person and booking is essential: email events@nullimro.ie

IMRO First Cuts Showcases at Abner Brown’s feature the best up and coming as well as established Irish acts. In the intimate setting performers are given the opportunity to debut new tracks along with their current material. Performance highlights and interviews with all acts who perform are later streamed online at www.IMRO.ie and across IMRO’s social media channels. To date, showcases have featured appearances from the likes of Marc O’Reilly, Gavin James, Ailbhe Reddy, Mark Geary, Farah Elle, Bronagh Gallagher, Chasing Abbey, Wild Youth, Ryan O’Shaugnessy and Orla Gartland.

Formally of Irish band the Original Rudeboys, Rob Burch is an Irish singer/songwriter who has just started releasing his own solo music of which he has said, “I’m really in love with the exploration of sound and melodies. I’m loving the experience of finding my own sound and music identity.” During their impressive five-year reign as The Original Rudeboys, the Dublin band received Gold & Platinum records for sales in Ireland with their two albums ‘This Life’ & ‘All We Are’. Rob speaks about going solo, “Since the band broke up, I’ve waited for this moment for so long. I’m really excited to start the next chapter, and for people to finally hear what I’ve been working on over the past two years! And I have a lot more to come.”

Irish singer-songwriter Josh Gray is gearing up to release ‘We Should Run’, his debut single since the departure of Louis Walsh’s chart toppers HomeTown. Josh has been mastering his craft and readying himself as an established solo artist working alongside some big writers and fellow musicians. 21-year-old Josh, raised in Blessington, Wicklow, has purposely taken time out to find and develop his own sound writing and focusing on his craft. Josh was also influenced by artists such as Onerepublic’s Ryan Tedder, Justin Timberlake, The Script, Kodaline and Maroon 5. His music shows off clever craftsmanship both lyrically and melodically, bringing various different styles to create his own unique sense of energetic captivating music.

Gemma Bradley is a contemporary soul/R&B/pop artist. Festivals appearances include: Whelan’s Ones to Watch, F. Festival BARE in the Woods, Glasgowbury, Foyle Folk, Culture Tech, Women of the World, the Red Sails, RTE’s Other Voices Music Trail and Stendhal. Gemma was a finalist in the 2013 IMRO Christie Hennessy Song Writing Competition for the song. Gemma’s song ‘Wicker Men’ was voted best song by the judges at the 2014 Irish Youth Music Awards and won the ‘Best Youth/Under 18 categories of the City of Culture/Resonate music video contest. Gemma also reached the final of the UK Big Music Project, which was held at the Indigo at the O2 in London in 2015 where she impressed a panel of industry judges with her unique vocal and songwriting abilities. She released her debut single ‘Wicker Men’ in February 2015 and has released her EP ‘Firewalk’, which got received airplay on BBC’s Across the Line.

Abner Brown’s is not only the coolest barbershop in town, it’s also one of Dublin’s most unique venues. The unlikely Rathmines venue has already seen performances from hundreds of acts such as Ash, Gavin Glass, Duke Special, David Geraghty (of Bell X1 fame), The Young Folk, Molly Sterling, Mundy, The Hot Sprockets and many more. REM’s Michael Stipe has even paid a visit.

IMRO is a national organisation that administers the performing right in copyright music in Ireland on behalf of its members (songwriters, composers and music publishers) and on behalf of members of the international overseas societies that are affiliated to it. Music users such as broadcasters, venues and businesses must pay for their use of copyright music by way of a blanket licence fee. IMRO’s Mission is to protect, promote and develop the collection and distribution of music royalties; foster music creation and promote the value of music to the creative, cultural and business communities in Ireland.
