What is PROL?
The Performing Right Online Licence (PROL) covers the act of communicating music to the public when you want to use music online and have already cleared the mechanical rights (i.e. the right to copy/reproduce the track) separately. Examples of services which may have cleared the mechanical rights separately include but are not limited to:
- Individual clearance granted by the publisher
- Production music used online
How long does the PROL run for?
The licence will run for 12 months from the date of purchase and we require reporting to show which works have been made available. Generally PROL only covers Republic of Ireland activity. However there may be instances where the licence will cover a wider territory.
What are the PROL royalty rates?
Royalty fees are calculated in blocks of €75 + VAT allowances per block vary depending on the level of usage.
