Illuminations – the new Rick Rubin produced album from mega-selling Josh Groban, went straight in to last weeks’ Billboard 200 album chart at No. 4…and Irish eyes are smiling, for two of the album’s fifteen tracks were written by Irish songwriters.
‘’Galileo’’ written by Declan O’Rourke and Seamus Cotter, makes the track listing on the over-the-counter album sales, while ‘’Le Cose Che Sei Per Me (The Things You Are To Me)’’ written by Brendan Graham and Rolf Lovland (translation by Giuseppe Fulcheri), makes the cut as a bonus track on the Exclusive Fans Only edition of the album, and is sent digitally to Groban fans. The “Galileo” cut was as a direct result of Graham forwarding on a copy of the song to Groban.
Groban’s sales to date have notched up an impressive 20 million albums, while his signature song, ‘’You Raise Me Up’’, also written by Graham and Lovland, earlier this year received an National Music Publishers Association of America, Platinum Award, for single sales of over 1 million in the USA.
