The Centre documents and promotes contemporary Irish music. It assists composers by holding their compositions in an archive, making copies available to the public and, where possible, encouraging and facilitating performances nationally and internationally. Any composer working in the area of concert or 'serious' music who was born or is permanently domiciled in Ireland may apply to the Contemporary Music Centre for representation.
PR and Marketing Assistant

A placement is offered in the Promotion Department of The Contemporary Music Centre. The placement is in the PR and Marketing side of this Department, whilst also being involved with other aspects of the Department and of the Contemporary Music Centre as the need arises. It is offered on a full-time basis and the applicant must be eligible for the FAS WPP.

Area of Activity in which placement is offered
 
The placement is offered in the Promotion Department of The Contemporary Music Centre. The placement is in the PR and Marketing side of this Department, whilst also being involved with other aspects of the Department and of the Contemporary Musuic Centre as the need arises.
 
The Promotion Department of the Contemporary Music Centre promotes new Irish music and its composers nationally and internationally. This involves promoting Irish composers and their work; the work of the Contemporary Music Centre and the awareness and appreciation of new Irish music.

Participants will gain experience in PR including writing, sending and following up on Press Releases; nurturing media relationships; identifying good opportunities and mechanisms for promotion.
 
Marketing including developing and distributing promotional materials; developing audiences  and relationships.
Supporting an active and dynamic event programme within the Promotion Department by being across all activity and gaining experience working as part of a busy team.
 
Working on a wide variety of projects both national and international and thereby learning to multi-task and prioritise.
 
Maintaining strategic relationships and collaborations and through this gaining skills in  good comunciation and attention to detail.
 
Dealing with a changing arts environment and thereby learning to be flexible and adaptable to the organisation’s needs.

Person Sepcification
 
Someone who is a recent graduate or career changer aiming to gain workplace experience in order to gain a career in PR and Marketing, with a particular focus on the Arts Sector.
 
Experience or interest in PR and Marketing
The ability to work as part of a dedicated team.
Excellent communication and organisational skills.
A professional and enthusiastic disposition.
Proactive, motivated and dynamic.
Ideally, but not essentially, experience of working in an arts environment.
Ideally, but not essentially, a knowledge of or interest in music.
Ideally, but not essentially, a full award at level 7 or above on the National Framework of Qualifications.
