Transposing Maynooth – NUIM Students Host Concert for Irish Cancer Society

The Department of Music at NUI Maynooth enjoys an enviable reputation for its high-calibre live performances, illuminating some of the University’s most important formal occasions. Now, thanks to the efforts of Ben Shaffrey – a second-year Music student at the University -Dublin audiences will have a chance to share in this music-making with the Department’s first ever performance in the hallowed surrounds of the RDS Concert Hall.
 
On 6th May, Ben and musicians from the Department of Music at NUI Maynooth will perform a programme including Schumann's Piano Concerto in A minor, op. 54 and Schubert's 2nd Symphony in B-flat major, D. 125 to raise money for the Irish Cancer Society.

This event, commencing at 8pm will showcase the University Chamber Orchestra and selected soloists from the NUI Maynooth Music Programme, with a total of 35 performers in all.
 
The students are hoping to raise in excess of €10,000 for the Irish Cancer Society, and all proceeds will go directly to the charity. Tickets are available at www.nuim.ie/shop, www.ticketmaster.ie, www.rds.ie, www.cancer.ie
