Villagers – Ivor Novello Nomination

April 21, 2011

Ivor Novello Nomination + New video for The Pact, single released May 13th

Exciting news!  Domino Records are delighted to report that Conor J O’Brien from Villagers was today nominated for an Ivor Novello Award in the category “Best Song Musically and Lyrically” for the wonderful Becoming a Jackal from Villagers’ debut album of the same title. The Awards ceremony will take place in London on 19th May.

Meanwhile, Villagers’ new single The Pact (I’ll Be Your Fever) is due for release on 13th May. The accompanying video is a mostly black and white affair featuring the band jamming in what appears to be somebody’s lounge room, somebody with a penchant for odd artwork and collectibles, including a naked reclining Buddha gnome, that is!
Directed by Myles O’Reilly of Arbutus Yarns, The Pact video can be viewed here:

Villagers recently supported Elbow on their UK and Irish Arena Tour and are currently in Istanbul. The band will be back on the road throughout May with a Shepherds Bush Empire show in London on Saturday 21st. They will also be appearing at several festivals throughout the Summer including Marlay Park, T in the Park, Latitude, Eden Sessions, Green Man & Field Day.
